Tim Ferris 4 Hour Work Week

Ever since reading the Tim Ferris 4 Hour Work Week book I became obsessed with it! The trouble was there was no clear path to making it a reality. At the time I was juggling a number of jobs and kidding myself that I had a laid back lifestyle. The truth was I was broke and struggling to make ends meet. Although I was out of work a lot, it didn’t translate to enjoyment because I was so worried about money all the time!

Doubling for Jack Whitehall on Bad Education the movie.

I thought I’d found the perfect job as a stuntman and in my early 20’s I got my first gig on a film called Enduring Love.

But the work never lasted and before I knew it I was back driving taxis, working on building sites or whatever casual work I could get my hands on. Months (and years) would go by without any sign of stunt work and all the time I was falling behind financially.

Tim Ferris 4 Hour Work Week

It was before this I had read Tim Ferris’s 4 Hour Work Week. But the book stuck in my mind and probably had a part in my pursuing the stuntman lifestyle. Unfortunately the lifestyle was precarious at best!

I didn’t get enough work and for years I juggled other part time and casual jobs alongside the stunt work. In my late 30’s I was still in this trap and I realised I needed to do something else.

I looked to the internet as a means to earn an income. After trying Forex marketing, buying and selling on eBay, and a few other such strategies, I eventually found a business model called affiliate marketing. See what is affiliate marketing.

With affiliate marketing you can promote other people’s products and services online and make a commission based on sales you make. I knew this was the way to attain the four hour work week! The automation of digital sales online seemed like the perfect automated income. So I bought a few training courses and started building websites.

Tim Ferris 4 Hour Work Week & Affiliate Marketing

As a newbie affiliate I was naive. I thought I could throw up a website and would suddenly be inundated with sales. I even wrote a couple of my own ebooks and tried to sell them but with no joy. But I knew the automation of online sales would give me the time and freedom I wanted. In his book Tim Ferris talked a lot about planning your time, and escaping the office to live more on your own terms. But it didn’t offer a step by step means to do it! This is what I needed!

So I bought several online courses which claimed to teach me. You can read about some of them in my article digital profit course review.

Despite many set backs I was determined to learn how to become a successful affiliate. I eventually found a community where I could get access to coaches and mentors who had already achieved financial independence through building an online business. Access a free video series here to learn more.

Affiliate Business Models

I had been struggling for a couple of years when I found this community. The SFM Mentors offered a training program and digital business system which included a ready made sales funnel I could promote straight away. Since I had struggled already, I immediately saw the value in coaches and mentors who could help me.

The business model was different to what I had tried before. Before I was promoting low value physical products from eBay and Amazon. I made peanuts when I sold anything. I was taught to promote high ticket affiliate products and made commissions on recurring income affiliate programs too.

This made all the difference and I was able to generate a regular income fairly quickly because of this switch. See also affiliate marketing business models for more on this.

The 4 Hour Work Week

The 4 hour work week does exist. But while I was building my affiliate business I was certainly working much more than this. I think this is true for all successful affiliates. But once your business is up and running, it can be largely automated.

With high value commissions and recurring income products it’s much easier to use paid marketing methods which means you can build a business fairly quickly. Alternatively you can use cheaper marketing strategies and take a bit longer over it if you’re on a tight budget.

Access a free video series here to learn more. If you’re ready to get started you can also access the step by step modules which will help you get up and running with a range of products and your own website and landing pages. What Is Lifestyle Entrepreneurship?

What is lifestyle entrepreneurship? A lifestyle business is a business which gives you complete control and freedom. With an online business you can work anywhere from a laptop, build a business to six figures and replace your current income. But what’s involved in this kind of business? How does it work and can anyone do it?

what is lifestyle entrepreneurship

An online business is the best choice for a lifestyle of your choice. While traditional businesses tie you down to a physical location and regular working hours, a “lifestyle” business offers a much more flexible working option. With a business which can be run online, you can choose your own working hours and work from anywhere globally. This means many lifestyle entrepreneurs relocate because they aren’t tied to a job or location.

What Is Lifestyle Entrepreneurship?

But what is lifestyle entrepreneurship? How does it work and can anyone do it? A “lifestyle” business is so called because it can give you the lifestyle of your choice. With any scalable business which works online, you can build an income from anywhere, even without products and services of your own. Two popular business models are affiliate marketing and drop shipping. See affiliate marketing vs drop shipping.

beginners

Both these models allow a third party to refer sales to existing products and services. When they make a sale, they earn a commission based on their referral. Because they are only third party sales people, they don’t need their own products or service. With affiliate marketing, once a customer makes a purchase, they get paid a commission based on their referral. With drop shipping, the referrer organises despatch of goods from the product owners/distributor. In both cases the main skill is the referring of products and services online, or online marketing.

What Is Lifestyle Entrepreneurship? Online Marketing

There are many ways in which lifestyle entrepreneurs promote and market products and services online. Some marketers run paid advertising and send visitors into a sales funnel. This is a sales process which is based around email marketing. The marketer collects emails from a landing page and automates a follow up email marketing series. Through email messages they sell affiliate products. (See the power of email marketing).

niche blogging

Other marketers create content much like this blog post. Or they build YouTube channels which attract an audience. From their channel they can promote products directly or send people into a sales funnel. Social media platforms are also used for marketing purposes by online marketers. You can pay for advertising on these platforms or use unpaid social media marketing methods as well.

Lifestyle Business Model – Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a popular lifestyle business model which anyone can learn. With affiliate marketing you refer customers to products online and earn commissions based on what you sell. While affiliate marketing can be done by anyone, there’s a large drop out rate in this industry. See affiliate marketing failure rate. In part this is because the barriers to entry are so low. With a traditional business there’s huge costs involved in getting started. But with affiliate marketing you only need a laptop and internet connection to get going.

There’s several different ways to approach affiliate marketing too. With physical products from Amazon, for example, it can be more difficult to get traction because the commission rates are so low. See Amazon affiliate marketing commission. Other business models within affiliate marketing can offer much more lucrative rates of commission.

For example some products and services pay recurring commissions. So once you make a sale once, you continue to receive commissions month after month. Recurring commission affiliate programs are great for lifestyle businesses. They offer the potential of building a passive income online. Once you create a passive income which overtakes your income from employment, you no longer need to work. This gives you time and financial certainty, and the ability to create almost any kind of lifestyle and live anywhere! High ticket affiliate marketing is another thing to consider too when looking at the various business models available.

Earning Potential For A Lifestyle Business

The earning potential for a lifestyle business is unlimited. But those coming into the business will often have to endure long periods without earning anything before they make their first sale. Once you have made a single sale online, you can make many more. Plus you can automate this process and scale it up to a global audience.

The learning curve for affiliate marketing is a steep one, and it’s not an easy climb! But ultimately if you’re determined to succeed, affiliate marketing income can replace your income from employment and grow exponentially. You can also grow your income quite quickly with affiliate marketing once you have broken through and achieved a certain level of understanding.

Because affiliate marketing is performance related pay, you don’t get paid unless you sell something. But it also means you can unplug yourself from continuously trading your time for money in a job. Using products and services online means you can eventually automate the process of selling online. This can do wonders for your lifestyle!

Is Affiliate Marketing Saturated?

Is affiliate marketing saturated? With all the affiliates online, is there any room for someone new? Because affiliate marketing is so diverse, there’s hundreds of topics and niches you can get into.

Plus, there’s new social media and marketing platforms appearing which lend themselves to new marketing techniques. Not every affiliate is on every platform or in every niche. There’s always going to be opportunity for those willing to do the work.

what is lifestyle entrepreneurship

The growing trend in online spending means that affiliate marketing is going to continue and for those who focus on it for long enough, and work in the right ways, there’s a huge potential for earning from it, despite the competition.

Summary

Lifestyle entrepreneurship means using a lifestyle business model which gives you complete control over your working hours, physical location and income. Once you build an online business which can replace your existing income, it means you no longer need to work a job, have a boss, or commute to work every day. You can also design your life as you choose, live anywhere and pick your own working hours.

Before this can happen, you need to learn the strategies which entrepreneurs use to generate an independent income. Access a free video series here to learn more.

Low Competition Niches For Affiliate Marketing

What are low competition niches for affiliate marketing? A niche is a sub-topic within a larger subject area. For example, affiliate marketing is a niche within the “money making online” niche. “affiliate marketing for seniors” is a sub-niche within the affiliate marketing niche. To find low competition niches for affiliate marketing, you need to look at either obscure topics, which have little to no competition, or find micro niches, within a larger subject area.

niche blogging

The main problem with obscurity is that it’s more difficult to monetise with affiliate marketing. There’s fewer affiliate products within those niches and the few products there are don’t sell well! Topics in the main stream sell well and all year round. The main niches which are generally thought of as good to go for in affiliate marketing are:

  • Health and Fitness
  • Wealth/personal finance
  • Money making online
  • Technology
  • Pets
  • Hobbies and interests
  • Dating and relationships

These are the well paying affiliate niches which make money all year round – known as “evergreen” niches. But as most affiliates will know, they are pretty saturated. To get organic traffic for any of these topics takes a huge amount of time and investment. But for a sub niche, or a micro niche this is less so.

Low Competition Niches For Affiliate Marketing – A Micro Niche

A micro niche is good for a couple of reasons. It attracts a specific audience and there’s less competition. With a specific audience you know which products will be best to promote. See how to know your target market.

Affiliate marketing for seniors” for example, is a micro niche within the affiliate marketing niche. Although affiliate marketing is hugely competitive, by choosing a specific sub-niche within it, you attract a certain type of person and the sub niche is less competitive.

Low Competition Niches For Affiliate Marketing

Building a website in a very competitive niche is going to take a long time and a lot of work. Most will quit before anything actually happens. Likewise with a YouTube channel. But a micro niche lets you create an online presence in an evergreen niche, without going up against the big boys! Long standing websites and YouTube channels have a tonne of backlinks and content. They have often been around for years and are well established. A brand new affiliate will struggle going up against them looking for free traffic.

Here’s a few suggestions for sub niches within the most profitable categories:

  • Money making online – affiliate marketing for seniors
  • Health and fitness – Chair exercises for the elderly
  • Personal finance – Retirees guide to money management
  • Technology – DIY electrical fixes from home
  • Pets – Crate training for Alsatian puppies
  • Hobbies and Interests – Lockdown hobbies for a pandemic!
  • Dating and relationships – Confidence hacks for the over 50’s

See also micro niche website examples.

Low Competition Niches For Affiliate Marketing – Obscure Topics

Another way to find low competition niches for affiliate marketing is to pick obscure topics and use Google’s keyword planner to find them. However, be aware that some topics are going to be difficult to monetise because of this obscurity.

Low Competition Niches For Affiliate Marketing
An obscure topic – an amphibious sub-marine!

As an example, I once created a website around the topic of garlic harvesting. Although I did rank my website and get traffic, it was difficult to maintain my interest in the topic and keep creating content for it. It was also hard to monetise because there were no good affiliate programs in this subject area.

So before rushing in and creating a tonne of content on a topic, do some research and decide whether you can monetise it based on your topic. Here’s a few other lesser thought of topics you can create content on:

  • Model railways
  • Scrapbooking
  • Stamp collecting
  • Handicraft
  • Scale models
  • Bargain Travel Tips
  • DIY mechanics
  • House plants
  • Recipes for students
  • Re-skilling in your 50’s
  • Career options for retirees
  • Moth collecting
  • Bees

Follow Your Passion – Remember To Monetise

Low Competition Niches For Affiliate Marketing

Many affiliates advocate following your passions when it comes to building an affiliate business. But you also need to find an area which can be monetised, if you want to make it profitable. If you have a hobby or interest, look at ways you can monetise that interest with an information website or a YouTube channel which gives value to its visitors.

Before choosing a topic think about:

  • Can you spend months/years building content on that topic?
  • Will you need to research every piece of content you create?
  • How will you monetise it and are there good affiliate products within the niche?

Making Little Traffic Go Further

In a competitive niche, it’s much harder to get traffic. But you can make a small amount of traffic go further if you have a well targeted audience within your micro niche. As people land on your website, or YouTube channel, if the information you provide leads them to a product they want or need, you have a well targeted audience.

In this scenario a small amount of traffic can do better than a large number of less well targeted visitors. So by targeting each piece of content you create at your specific audience, you’ll get more from your site. To get the best out of your traffic, offer something for free on your site and build an email list. An email list will make your efforts go further because you can build a long term relationship with your visitors and subscribers. See the power of email marketing.

Low Competition Niches For Affiliate Marketing

Another way to get more out of your efforts is by choosing recurring income affiliate programs. With subscription and software products, partner programs often offer recurring commissions to affiliates. With a few recurring commissions coming in month after month, you’ll be profitable more quickly and be able to build more stability into your affiliate business with less work. One off commissions are all well and good, but if you have a slow month or two, the money stops. Recurring income is best! See also high ticket affiliate marketing. High ticket sales pay much larger than average affiliate commissions and are another way of generating more income from the same amount of work.

See also best niche for affiliate marketing.

Best Niche For Affiliate Marketing

What is the best niche for affiliate marketing? Some say the best niches to choose for affiliates are “evergreen” niches which are the best payers. Evergreen means they pay all year round. However, they only pay when you make them work! So if you’re building a website in a competitive niche, you’ll probably have to work pretty hard and for some time before you can compete with the websites in that niche already.

best niche for affiliate marketing

Conversely, you might choose a less competitive niche which has fewer competing websites. But although it might be easier to get traffic in such a niche, it can be harder to monetise. So what’s the answer? Some of the top niches are:

  • Lifestyle and wellness
  • Technology
  • Personal Finance
  • Pet care
  • Hobbies
  • Dating and relationship
  • Making money/investing

Best Niche For Affiliate Marketing – A Sub Niche

A sub niche is a niche within a niche. With a sub niche, you get very specific about one area of a larger topic. For example, affiliate marketing is a sub niche of the “making money online” topic. While making money online is a profitable niche, it’s also very competitive. So getting seen for your content is a much harder task in a competitive niche. To stand out, you can create a sub niche for your website.

“Fitness in your 40’s” could be a sub-niche for a fitness website.

“Online marketing for seniors” could be a sub niche in affiliate marketing.

“Investing for the clueless” could be a sub niche for an investment advice website.

With a sub niche, you are targeting a very small slice of the overall market in your topic. But there’s often less competition for a sub niche than the mainstream topics. This matters if you’re going after free marketing strategies by building content. In a very competitive industry, it’s so much more difficult to stand out from the crowd.

Best Niche For Affiliate Marketing – Ikigai

Ikigai is a Japanese term for “reason for being”. If you align your ikigai with your affiliate niche, you have a much greater chance of making it work for a couple of reasons. If your goal is to make money and quit, you’re probably not aligned with your ikigai. With affiliate marketing, and especially if you intend on building content within a niche, you will need to put some serious time and effort in, before you see anything in return.

best niche for affiliate marketing

When you are aligned with passion and purpose in your niche, you have a lot more staying power over the longer term. If you choose a topic you love, you can more easily create powerful and valuable content within that niche. If you choose something just because you think it might be profitable, you’re more likely to quit when things get tough. It’s also more difficult to create content in a subject you’re not familiar with.

Best Niche For Affiliate Marketing – Your Product Choice

The best niche for affiliate marketing will depend on the choice of product you want to promote. This is important as you’ll be creating content or advertising this product probably for some time.

Choose a product you have purchased yourself and that you can align with. If you don’t believe in a product, it’s so much more difficult to get behind it in your marketing efforts. Plus, your counter-intentions will show up in your marketing if you don’t believe in what you’re promoting.

If you’re going to be building content around your product, make sure your product is going to be around for a while. Cheap and low quality products can often disappear. If this happens you’re content and promotion strategies will go to waste. So pick something which has longevity and is hugely valuable.

Start with a single product and generate some traction before diversifying to other products.

Your Marketing Strategy

niche blogging

Your marketing strategy will to a degree depend on your individual circumstances. If you’re choosing paid marketing, you will want a high value product range to recoup your advertising budget more quickly. Choose high ticket affiliate products and/or recurring income affiliate programs which pay the most.

If your product only pays a small amount in commission (see affiliate marketing commission rates), you may need to choose a cheaper marketing strategy. This could be building a niche website, blogging or video blogging, for example. See also micro niche website example. Plus there’s other unpaid social media marketing strategies you can use. See also unpaid advertising examples.

Follow Your Passions But Follow The Money Too!

Some people say follow your passions when it comes to choosing a niche for affiliate marketing. But this depends on what your passion is and whether you can monetise it or not. Ideally choose something which you can get behind and spend a good deal of time on. If you have zero interest in your topic, it will be much more difficult to put in the necessary effort.

If your topic is difficult to monetise and there’s no affiliate products in it, you can spend a lot of time and get nowhere with it! So choose wisely and spend some time researching your topic and the affiliate products you can use to monetise it.

Summary

The best niche for affiliate marketing will depend on your marketing strategy, the products you choose and of course your own interests and passions. Ideally find a topic you can align with for the long term.

If you’re building an information resource like a YouTube channel or website, this will take some considerable time and effort. Keep in mind that the more competitive niches will be more difficult to get your content seen for. Consider choosing a sub niche – a niche within a niche which is less competitive and more focused on your target audience. See how to know your target market.

$1000 Per Sale Affiliate Program – Recurring Commissions

Since you’re looking for $1000 per sale affiliate programs, you may also be interested in knowing about subscription affiliate products which pay out recurring commission. There’s not much better than getting a high ticket commission of $1000 for a single sale; except perhaps making a sale of a recurring income product and seeing those commissions come in each and every month like clockwork!

A $20 commission every single month for a recurring commission is pretty cool too. Especially when you consider this is just one customer. With 10 customers that’s $200 a month. In just 5 months this matches your $1000 commission! Recurring income from subscriptions and memberships is an awesome key to making affiliate marketing profitable. Without them, you need to keep making sales over and over. But with a recurring commission, you only need a few to create a sustainable income.

Some of the best recurring income programs offer software and business tools for online business owners. Once a business is profitable, the owner is likely to use these tools for decades! If you have referred them, you’ll earn commissions for decades for each individual referral!

Choose High Ticket Programs In Your Niche

If you already have a niche and are getting website visitors, it’s a good idea to find high ticket products which are in your niche. Here’s another example of a high ticket product in a different niche.

The Aquatic Gymnasium

The Aquatic Gymnasium sells for $10,000 and offers an affiliate commission of $800 on a sale! Here’s another one which might fit well in a sports related website or martial arts site:

Martial Arts Affiliate Programs

The mixed martial arts trainer sells for $7000 and offers a $560 commission on a sale! Access the videos to learn more here.

Summary

As you can see, there’s many programs which offer $1000 per sale in commission and even higher. If you choose to sell a product range, you can even benefit from one-off sales, subscription commissions and high ticket sales. See SFM Digital Business system for more on this.

If you already have a specific niche in which you get traffic, look for high ticket programs in your niche. A high ticket sale can mean the difference between your business working and failing. With low value products, you’ll need a tonne of sales to make them work for you. But with high value items you only need a few sales to be profitable. See affiliate marketing commission rates.

Typical Affiliate Commission

The typical affiliate commission you earn as an affiliate will depend on the type of product you choose and the program offering it. Physical affiliate products typically pay less than 10%. Amazon, for example, pays affiliates between 1% and 11% commission on product referrals. Whereas the typical affiliate commission on digital products is much higher – around 30%.

beginners guide to affiliate marketing

Why are digital products more lucrative? Well perhaps because they carry less costs. Physical products need to be manufactured, stored and posted. Whereas digital products are typically created once and then sold over the internet. Digital products can be online membership sites, software and digital downloadable products such as ebooks and video courses. Once created there’s little or no manufacturing costs, and no postage or storage costs are involved. The main cost is in marketing the products, which can be passed on to affiliate marketers. Hence why affiliates will receive a larger commission based on the sale.

Typical Affiliate Commission – Recurring Commissions

Another consideration for affiliate marketers is recurring income affiliate programs. With a recurring income program, a single sale can generate an ongoing income. With some membership products and software products, product owners pay ongoing commissions to their affiliates. This is far better than a single “one-time” commission. For certain products and services, customers will continue using them for a lifetime. So the affiliate will earn a lifetime of commissions from each customer they find!

Typical affiliate commission

Some of the best kinds of products to use as an affiliate are business tools and software used by businesses; used by other affiliate marketers and online business owners. With an online business, once you start making an income from it, you’ll be using the tools and software for a long time, possibly for a lifetime. See also lifetime commissions affiliate program.

If you have referred this kind of product, your efforts will go much further in terms of commissions.

Typical Affiliate Commission – High Ticket Products

High ticket items pay much more than the typical affiliate commissions. With a high ticket product, you can make huge commissions whether the product is physical or digital. See also what is high ticket affiliate marketing.

Typical affiliate commission - high ticket

Above is an example of a high ticket physical product – a submarine! A sale of this item can give you a commission of $24,000!

So, as you can see, your choice of affiliate products to promote can make a massive difference to your earning potential.

Choosing Affiliate Products To Promote

With smaller valued affiliate products you’ll obviously earn a lot less when you make a sale. Particularly if you choose to promote physical products from the likes of Amazon. See Amazon affiliate marketing commission and also affiliate marketing business models.

A product from Amazon which costs $40, for example, can pay as little as 1% or $0.40 in commission. So you’ll need to sell a huge amount of products in order to make it a viable business. Subscriptions, high ticket products and digital products can pay a lot more.

But depending on your promotion strategy you should choose carefully. Digital products can be more difficult to sell, particularly if they are a little arbitrary. A physical product is obvious whereas the value of a digital product may be harder to understand.

Combining Affiliate Products In A Product Range

One of the best ways to do affiliate marketing is with a product range. Selling “one-off” items can be difficult because you need to keep selling in order to keep making money. What’s worse is that the company you are referring the customer to gets to keep the customer, forever! You don’t get rewarded for later purchases made by your referral.

Typical affiliate commission
Stuart explains “O.T” “S” and “HT” – one time, subscription and high ticket affiliate marketing.

With a product range, which includes subscriptions, you can earn recurring commissions from existing customers. You also benefit from later purchases made by your referrals, whether you close the sale or not! A good product range offers one off sales, multiple products within a range (including high ticket) and subscription products. So you get multiple earning strategies from referring the entry level product. See SFM Digital Business System for a product range.

Typical Affiliate Commission – Summary

The typical affiliate commission is very low. Physical products pay from 1% to 11% commissions to affiliates. Digital products pay more; generally around 30% but some pay up to 100%! With subscription products and high ticket products affiliates can earn a lot more.

A product with a large price, a large commission percentage or both will pay the most. Subscription products can pay out more than high ticket products over time. If a customer maintains their membership for years, the affiliate referring the sale benefits from a lifetime of commissions from each customer they refer.

So before diving into affiliate marketing, it’s worth noting what levels of commissions are being offered. Considering affiliate marketing is a tough business, it’s far better to be prepared because you will receive much larger rewards if you choose the right products to begin with!

Scarcity Money Mindset

Do you have a scarcity money mindset? Are you afraid to spend money? Or are you always behind financially? Perhaps you’re on the hamster wheel of life, never really ever having enough and constantly falling behind. Or worse still, you have heaps of debt and don’t see a way out of it?

A scarcity money mindset can manifest in many ways. But in general it means you are creating a source of fear around money, spending or living. To get out of a scarcity mindset, you need to change your relationship with how you see money and yourself. A poor self image can help create a poverty mindset around money. So thinking well of yourself is a good place to start.

scarcity money mindset

Scarcity Money Mindset Vs. Abundance Mindset

If you’re in the habit of never having enough, this can perpetuate into your thinking and create more of never having enough. Thoughts are attracting things in your life perpetually. So if your thinking nature is towards lack, and limitation, this will manifest into your reality. Pessimistic thinking will bring about like results.

On the other hand, people who maintain thoughts of abundance have learned to think in certain ways. They focus on what’s good, rather than what’s missing! They have developed an abundance mindset and have a positive outlook regarding life and money.

Scarcity Money Mindset – Shifting Your Thinking & Gratitude

One of the best ways to change your reality is through shifting your negative thinking habits. Start by noticing whenever you have a strong negative emotion about money. When this happens, you’re reinforcing your reality that there is lack.

This may have been brought about through many years of struggle, and it can be difficult to turn it around. So simply start by noticing your thoughts, words and emotions regarding finances and money. Whenever you catch yourself thinking, speaking or feeling in a negative way towards money, stop and take note.

Start a gratitude diary and write down a daily log of everything you are grateful for. This will slowly shift your thinking away from negative aspects of life and towards a more positive one.

Using Positive Affirmations

If you’re stuck in a scarcity money mindset, you’ll likely have been programming your unconscious mind with negative thoughts about money. To help turn this habit around you can create some positive affirmations around money instead. Whenever you catch yourself thinking negatively about your lack, stop and replace your thinking with a positive affirmation instead.

scarcity money mindset

Whatever your situation, try and focus on the small things you have to be grateful for. As you notice more and more of these, you’ll slowly be able to shift your attention away from the negative and towards more positive and life affirming thoughts. Here’s a few examples of positive affirmations around money:

  • Money comes easily and frequently
  • I get paid to be me
  • The universe is providing
  • I have plenty of money
  • I love myself
  • I’m enough

Typical negative thinking around money might give rise to some negative beliefs around money which will continue to bring about negative circumstances if repeated, even to yourself:

  • There’s never enough
  • I’m always broke
  • I can’t afford it
  • Why is life a struggle
  • I’m never enough

Thoughts are powerful when continually repeated. Your unconscious mind is wise and is listening to everything you tell it. It will create circumstances in a way which agrees with your inner world.

Habits & Money

If you continually believe money is hard to attain, you’ll continue to create events and circumstances which create that reality. If you don’t believe you are worthy of being wealthy and relaxed about money, you’ll create suffering and hardship instead, if that’s what you believe.

Your habits around money are a major key in how you think about it. If you are frugal with money, you may also have a scarcity mindset, even if you have plenty of it. Perhaps you’re afraid to spend it because you’ve struggled in the past. Or maybe there’s just never enough money at the end of the month.

scarcity money mindset - change your paradigm

To shift any fear around money, spending or living the life you really want, start by noticing when it crops up in your consciousness. What do you tell yourself continually about money. What were your parent’s ideas around money which you were influenced by?

There’s also certain things you can do to change your money habits and create more income. See money habits of the wealthy.

The Luck Factor

the luck factor

In The Luck Factor, a book by Dr Richard Wiseman, Wiseman shows how the “lucky” often are much more outgoing and put themselves in situations where they can find opportunity.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, those with a less optimistic outlook will likely avoid such circumstances, believing themselves to be unlucky and therefore avoiding situations and events where they would otherwise find opportunities for success and growth.

People with a positive outlook expect the best from the world. Pessimists expect the worst and therefore create what they expect! To create more “luck” start changing your thinking. Notice any negative thinking and replace with more positive, life affirming thoughts.

Rich But Poor

Even with objectively a large amount of money, some people carry a scarcity mindset towards money. They fear spending money so they hoard it instead because inside they fear losing it all. Or they fear making more money because they know this will incur more taxes to pay! This is still a scarcity money mindset and stop you from living an abundant life.

Amassing money to fix something you feel broken about probably won’t actually “fix” you! Unless you tackle the problem at the source, no amount of money will be enough.

Scarcity money mindset can manifest in many ways:

  • No money and debt
  • Scared of spending money
  • You’re scared of earning more money – because of the ramifications for taxes, responsibilities etc.
  • Bad relationships
  • Struggle and hardship
  • Overworking
  • Desperation and illness

Whatever your scarcity money mindset, get to know how it is being “fed” by your mind and your thinking. Notice your limiting thoughts around it and change them accordingly using mantras, affirmations and new habits.

niche blogging

One strategy to increase your chances of this happening is to find long tail keywords with low SEO difficulty. SEO – search engine optimisation can help you get more organic visitors to your site. However, in a competitive niche, this is much harder. So looking for the longer tail keywords can give you more chance of this happening. You can use Google’s keyword planner to help you find keywords within your business niche. Then create content on a regular basis for these keywords.

How To Boost Traffic To Your Website – Link Building

You can also offer to write guest posts to other bloggers who are in your niche. Some blogs will let contributors add content and link back to their website in exchange. Link building is a good way to improve your SEO score and build new channels for direct traffic at the same time.

You can link build yourself through guest posting, or commenting on other blogs in your niche. Link building can be outsourced too – try Fiverr for link building services.

Start with creating good content though because if your content is awesome, people will be more likely to link to it as a resource.

Using Quora For Traffic

Once you’ve created a lot of content, you can use question and answer sites such as Quora.com for traffic. By answering questions which relate to your content, you can also post content within your answers, linking back to your blog. Although Quora doesn’t give do-follow links, which means it won’t help your SEO score, it’s still a source for traffic.

Boost Traffic with Quora

Paid Advertising

The beauty of paid advertising platforms is that you can use them even with a tiny budget. Google Ads can be set up to work alongside your blogging through creating a dynamic advert.

With a dynamic search advert, you can set up an advert which uses the existing content on your website. So if someone types in a search to Google of something which your content answers, the ad will direct them to that specific page on your site.

How To Boost Traffic To Your Website

Dynamic ads are a great way to boost your website traffic if you already have a lot of content to use.

Revive Old Posts Plugin

How To Boost Traffic To Your Website

Then, send out messages on a regular basis to build a relationship with your subscribers. Email lists can be great for bloggers because you can send out messages which encourage subscribers to come and visit more content on your site, or purchase a product/service.

YouTube/TikTok

YouTube is another great way to boost traffic to your website. You can use paid marketing on YouTube or create and upload videos to attract an audience organically. The organic method requires a lot more work and patience. If you want instant traffic, you’ll need to pay for it!

One way of finding topics for videos on YouTube is to type your main keywords into the search bar at the top of YouTube’s site. YouTube will then give you the most popular search terms for your given keyword.

How To Boost Traffic To Your Website

Once you find a suitable keyword for your audience, create a video and upload. By making a habit out of creating videos, just like blogging, you can build traffic over time. Link each video back to your blog and you’ll have another source of traffic!

Encourage Comments & Sharing

You can also encourage your readers to comment on your blog posts. Having some group interaction is great for your blogs posts and also helps with SEO. One strategy you can use here is to use a plugin called CommentLuv. Many bloggers use this plugin because it offers other bloggers a means to back-link through commenting.

SEO and back links with comments

With each comment on your blog posts, the person commenting automatically gets at least one back link to their blog, depending on how you set up the plugin. They can also get two back links – one to their main blog page and another to their latest post.

Social Media Platforms – Facebook

A Facebook strategy to generate more traffic is to alter your profile on your Facebook account to showcase your website. Then use groups to find people who are your likely customers and interact with them. When they come and look at your profile they can click through to your website.

This is a free strategy but it takes a bit of commitment. Join groups and make sure you follow the rules and guidelines. Don’t spam groups as it will get you banned! Just interact and help people with their questions. Over time and through making a habit out of this strategy, you can build some traffic from the platform for free. You can also use Facebook as a paid marketing platform, which can be very effective and fast. So if you want traffic fast, use paid marketing: Adwords (Google Ads), YouTube, Facebook, Bing, Instagram etc.

Affiliate Motivation

Affiliate motivation is different for everyone. Not every affiliate is motivated entirely by money! Of course money is a key factor as to why affiliates do what they do. But there’s other things at play. Some affiliates want to build a lifestyle which gives them more control and flexibility. This then becomes the driving force behind their actions and motivations. Once they achieve this, their motivation can change.

If you’re starting an affiliate business from scratch, your affiliate motivation is a key factor as to whether you’ll achieve the success you desire. If your motivation wanes, and you lose momentum, how does this affect your daily action steps? Have you drawn up a plan for achieving your affiliate goals even? DO you really believe that affiliate marketing is going to give you what you want from life? Have you a high sense of passion and focus, or are you lacking in belief that it will even work for you? All of these factors will contribute to your affiliate marketing success, or lack of it.

Affiliate Motivation – Keeping Yourself Motivated

If you’re anything like I am, you go through pits and troughs in your affiliate marketing business. Some days you’re up and other days your down. The key is to maintain a consistent methodology of working on your affiliate business whether you are in the pits of despair or high as a kite! What has helped me a lot is creating mini habits using small achievable goals on a daily basis.

affiliate motivation
Mini Habits are so ridiculously small you can keep them up forever! They create long term habits which have power!

It’s fine to be working at your business when you’re in a great state of mind. But when those doubts come calling, you need a strategy which you can maintain as a minimum. My minimum daily strategy is to write a blog post. Most days I can do this now because I’ve built up a habit of doing it on a regular basis. But there were times when I was uncertain whether blogging would actually create results for me. When you’re in doubt mode, you procrastinate and stall. You wonder whether all your efforts will amount to anything. You doubt yourself and think of quitting.

At this point you need to have a strategy for moving forwards; something you can do to chase away the negative thoughts. Blogging for me is this. It forces me to focus on something productive and pro-active. When I’ve done my blog post for the day, I can let myself off the hook a little, and relax. Often, writing a single blog post inspires me to write another. But I stick to a minimum when I’m having a bad day!

Affiliate Motivation – Negativity

Holding yourself accountable to building an affiliate business can be tough. You need help! When I started affiliate marketing, no body I knew did it! Everyone I spoke to was doubtful and negative, so I learned not to talk about it and avoid the subject. Most people told me to put a date on it, when I would quit if it didn’t work out. Or that affiliate marketing was a scam of some kind. Is affiliate marketing legit? I would wonder in moments like these!

If your friends are negative towards what you do, it’s better to keep quiet and slowly prove them wrong by succeeding! Keep your affiliate business to yourself until your belief in it is so strong than even the most verbal cynic can’t bring you down.

Of course you will soon learn who kills your spirit and who encourages you. Make certain not to keep going to the wrong people for advice. Anyone who discourages your affiliate journey is not helping. Quite the opposite. You can only maintain a certain self encouragement for a certain time. The more naysayers you allow into your life, the harder this will be! The more people you find like you, who will help keep you motivated and accountable, the better it will be for your affiliate business.

Affiliate Motivation – Know Your “Why”

In Simon Sinek’s book “Start With Why”, Sinek points out that your “why” is the most important factor in pretty much any difficult endeavour. In all pursuits which are meaningful and difficult, a strong reason for doing it often means someone is successful.

affiliate motivation

Write out your “why’s” for doing affiliate marketing. Here’s some I like to keep my eye on when I’m not feeling great about things as an affiliate:

  • I want to be my own boss
  • I’d like to never have to work for another boss, or employer again. Affiliate marketing offers this possibility
  • To never have to commute again
  • I want to leave behind financial struggle forever
  • Affiliate marketing lets you work when and where you want. No other business I known of offers the same flexibility and earning potential
  • I want to matter – to be in a position to help others on the same journey

With a good enough “why?”, you’ll survive any “how?

Affiliate Motivation – Keep Your Belief High

When your belief in what you’re doing as an affiliate drops, you often stop working. This has a compound effect of setting your back months. If you maintain a small daily habit of spending time on your business, the habit itself will keep you moving.

I’ve been through many peaks and troughs with affiliate marketing. Some days are just tough. But once you have seen results from your activities, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Before this happens you need to keep going and keep your belief high. Read positive self help books and learn about maintaining a positive self image. Download free motivational ebooks pdf here.

Don’t allow negativity to enter your consciousness where your affiliate business is concerned. If it does, or someone says something negative, or you read something negative, look for ways to avoid the same happening again. Protect your positive mental attitude. Look for leaders not naysayers! Plenty of people want you to fail. Don’t hang out with those people!

Small Wins & Super Achievements

Building an affiliate business isn’t easy. It’s a way to generate income in an independent way and can give you huge freedom to live life on your terms. It’s an amazing achievement to even sell a single product online. Give yourself a pat on the back for even attempting such a feat!

To maintain focus and trust in the process you need to celebrate small wins. A small win might be getting a website up and running, or getting your first website visitor landing on your website. With these small wins you can learn how to reward yourself for each small step on the journey.

So make sure you reward yourself each step of the journey because it’s a long journey. Enjoy the ride and remember large achievements don’t happen overnight.

Examples Of Affiliate Marketing Strategies

Some examples of affiliate marketing strategies are blogging, video content generation, pay per click and social media strategies. A simple Facebook strategy example is to set up your profile with your offer clearly on view. Then focus on building contacts through Facebook groups.

By interacting with group members you can build connections. When people visit your profile, they see your offer. This is a strategy which takes some time and dedication, whereas if you want results more quickly you’re best off building an email list through paid marketing. See also unpaid social media marketing.

With an email list you can build a relationship with multiple subscribers through sending out automated email messages. Over time, if your subscribers are a good match for your offer, you should see sales coming in. See also the power of email marketing.

Examples Of Affiliate Marketing Strategies – Blogging

Blogging is often the go-to marketing strategy for affiliate marketers. Blogging is definitely a solid strategy. But with so many bloggers out there offering competition in most niches, is blogging worth it? Well blogging certainly does take some time and dedication. A few blog posts won’t get you massive results, or even any traffic. But a few thousand will! Blogging is therefore a longer term strategy which can be used alone, if you’re patient, or together with other marketing strategies.

niche blogging

Depending on your niche, blogging can take several months or even years before you get the traction you want. In competitive areas such as online money making, it will take considerably longer. But in a less competitive niche, blogging can work wonders, especially if you create a lot of content and get good at spreading the word! See also niche blogging for profit.

Examples Of Affiliate Marketing Strategies – Video Blogging

Video blogging can work in the same way as blogging on a website, only with video of course! Video bloggers upload videos to YouTube and TikTok and gain the attention of users of the platforms. If you’re aiming at the organic route with YouTube, this again can take some time.

You can also boost your visibility through YouTube by running paid advertising, alongside your organic marketing strategy. YouTube is pretty competitive, although not as much as Google search. So expect a long journey uploading videos on a regular basis for some time to gain traction with a video blog.

examples of affiliate marketing strategies

You can create “how to” videos or just explainer videos depending on what suits you best. Some video creators will use a split screen and share technical videos showing how to solve certain problems.

It’s a good idea to define your audience before creating your videos and targeted videos according to the type of people who will seek them out. This will allow you to attract the right audience for your affiliate products. See also how to know your target market.

With a high ticket sales funnel and lots of large value products, you can run paid advertising more easily because it’s easier to recoup your marketing budget with larger value digital affiliate products than with low value physical ones.

Examples Of Affiliate Marketing Strategies – Paid Search Traffic (PPC)

Search traffic comes from Google, Bing, Yahoo, Duckduckgo etc. These platforms also offer paid marketing. So you can target specific keywords with your adverts. So when someone types something in the search bar, your advert pops up! PPC or pay per click adverts are great for businesses because you can define your daily budget and create an advert which is very specific to a certain type of search query.

examples of affiliate marketing strategies

So if you’re advertising a fitness program, for example, you can use Google’s keyword planner to place ads which run only when certain keywords are typed into the search engines. “fitness program for sale”, for example would make a good keyword for your ad in this scenario.

When someone clicks on your advert, you pay a fee according to the cost of the specific keywords you are targeting. Some keywords will cost more than others but it’s important to use keywords which are more likely to bring in paying customers, not casual browsers!

If you’re paying for adverts as an affiliate, it’s a good idea to send traffic to a landing page where you can collect their email address. This gives you a longer period of time to build trust with your visitor and offer them value. When they trust you they are more likely to make a buying decision.

Email Marketing

With an email list, affiliates can connect with thousands of subscribers through an automated email marketing system – access one here. Affiliates build their lists through sending qualified website visitors to landing pages and collecting their emails. Here’s an example of a landing page:

examples of affiliate marketing strategies

A landing page offers something of value to the person landing on it. The visitors have two choices, either sign up for the offer or leave the website. With a blog type of website there’s many more choices to make, so it’s more difficult getting visitors to sign up to a list from a blog/website. So landing pages are better for converting website visitors into email subscribers. See the power of email marketing.

Social Media Marketing

Social media sites such as Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and Instagram are just a few of the ones which are used for advertising affiliate products. Many affiliates use these sites to post content which they created through blogging or video marketing.

As an affiliate your social media sites offer a good way to get your content in front of more people and help you build an online presence. Social media interaction can also help with your SEO – search engine optimisation, and get you seen more in the search engine rankings. See social media unpaid marketing.

Any single platform can be used alone for marketing of affiliate products. It’s advisable to learn a single strategy before moving on to another one. Trying too many too quickly will likely mean you spread yourself too thin!

Quora.com – The Question & Answer Site

Quora.com is a great site for affiliate marketers because it can allow them to gain greater exposure by answering (and asking) questions. A well answered question can garner a lot of views and even go viral. So it’s another example of an affiliate marketing strategy which can work well if you stick at it for some time. By answering multiple questions within your niche, you can link to blog or video content you have created which helps answer the questions.

You can’t paste affiliate links directly on the site though. This will likely get your answers deleted and your account shut down. But if you provide some value in your answers, and link to relevant content, this can be a good long term strategy.

examples of affiliate marketing strategies

As you answer content “bank” builds up, you should find others sharing your answers too, so this can compound over time. People will start visiting your content from Quora if you do this for long enough. You can also put a link in your bio to a website you own, which can be an affiliate website. See also affiliate marketing on Quora.

Free Blogging Sites

Some affiliates use free blogging sites to keep their costs down. Sites like Blogger.com and Hubpages.com allow blogging on their site completely free. If you create enough content, this can help you connect affiliate products with your audience.

Free blog sites tend to have less authority with the search engines however, and this strategy can take a lot of hard work before you see much in the way of results. But if you keep at it, it can eventually pay off with the right content and products.

hubpages - a free blogging site

One of my very first affiliate sales came from blogging on Hubpages.com. I write a review article of a web building product I had bought. It made a single sale but I was super excited at the time!
