Affiliate Shortcut

They say there’s no shortcuts in business, but is there an affiliate shortcut you can use to make affiliate marketing easier? With affiliate marketing you don’t get paid unless you make a sale. So making the sales is clearly the path to success as an affiliate marketer.

But what if you could get paid over and over for each sale? Surely that would make the journey easier? Well you can! With subscription affiliate programs you can get paid recurring commissions for each sale you make.

affiliate shortcut

Subscription products allow affiliates to build a monthly income which makes their business much more sustainable. As a beginner in affiliate marketing, income isn’t typically very stable. One month you might make a few sales, and the next you might make none! But with subscription products your income starts building and compounding as soon as you start generating sales.

This might be months into your affiliate journey, depending on the marketing strategy you decide on. If you’re blogging, for example, your journey will typically take longer than someone using paid marketing.

Affiliate Shortcut – More Traffic

Traffic is another big problem for affiliate marketers. When you start out, you have zero traffic. You can build traffic in a number of ways in order to generate affiliate sales:

  • Paid marketing
  • Organic marketing – through content generation
  • SEO – search engine optimisation (typically accompanies content creation)
  • Link building
  • Social media marketing

If you’re starting out as a content generator, it can take months or even years to get enough traffic to make consistent sales. Even with paid marketing, sending traffic directly to offers can be tricky. Typically someone needs several points of contact with a product or affiliate before they make a buying decision. You could spend a heap in marketing before you make any sales at all, or create a tonne of content. But if you build an email list this can considerably shorten this timespan.

aweber

An email list allows an affiliate to better control their traffic. They can build a relationship with their subscribers over a much longer period of time than from a website or sales page. This means you can make more out of your content and/or paid marketing. On a website someone only gets a small window of opportunity to make a purchasing decision. But once on your email list, this time period is vastly extended. Some subscribers will even buy from you years after having signed up to your email list.

Affiliate Shortcut – Digital Vs. Physical

Physical products pay between 5% and 10% commissions typically. So promoting them means you’ll be earning a lot less than from a typical digital products which pays between 30%-40%!

affiliate shortcut

There’s all kinds of digital products available online and although physical products do sell well, it can take some time to learn how to sell anything online. The time spent learning might be several weeks or months, but if you start out with higher valued products, those with larger commissions and those which pay recurring commissions your time will be better spent in the long run!

One sale of a digital product can be worth ten times than of a physical item. So for less work you can actually earn more with the right products. This is all the more apparent with high ticket affiliate products. High ticket products typically are valued at $500 or more. They will therefore come with a larger commission. It’s far easier to sell a single item which pays you a larger commission, than to sell hundreds of low cost items which amounts to the same earnings.

High ticket products can therefore save you a heap of time and energy as an affiliate marketer.

High Ticket Sales Funnel & Marketing

Some product ranges offer multiple products within a sales funnel. These are the best kinds of products to promote if you want to make your life a whole lot easier.

high ticket funnel

With a high ticket sales funnel, you promote a single “entry level” product. The system automatically up-sells higher level products on your behalf. A good funnel will have larger value products which are very useful and offer huge value. It will also use subscription products within the product range. This means as an affiliate you can earn from:

  • High ticket sales
  • Subscription products
  • Digital products

In fact, the most efficient way to use affiliate marketing for the best result. See SFM Digital Business System for more on this. What’s more useful still about a business system like this is your ability to market it using paid marketing. Paid marketing platforms are expensive, so selling low value physical products using paid platforms can be very difficult. There’s less margin for profit. But with a high ticket digital sales funnel, you can benefit from paid marketing platforms more easily.

Paid Marketing – Affiliate Shortcut

Content marketing is a long term laborious strategy which most people don’t want to do. You can spend months or years creating content with no guarantee of results! But with paid marketing, you can run an advert and immediately see traffic coming to your website or landing page.

This is a huge shortcut for affiliates if they are willing to see it through. Although many advertising campaigns don’t work in the first instance, by testing and measuring your marketing, you can quickly find a profitable strategy using paid platforms such as Facebook, Adwords, YouTube etc.

Once you find a profitable campaign, paid marketing is super scalable. This means you can scale up to a global audience very quickly.

Paid marketing can get pricey of course, but with a high ticket sales funnel you stand to profit more easily than through using low value affiliate products. Once profitable, quickly scale up simply through increasing your marketing budget.

Motivation For Affiliate Marketing

What is your motivation for affiliate marketing? Is it a fear based need for the desired results? Or is it an intention to take consistent steps towards your goals, while remaining unattached to them? One of these is desperation and the other is determination. If you’re trapped in fear based motivation, you might find the results seem further and further away. You create more and more of the same energy: frustration, anxiety and fear.

success is an iceberg

On the other hand, if you can maintain focus over the longer term, while remaining in a non attached state, results can come more easily. You look for ways to achieve your goals without striving. The energy of struggle doesn’t exist and you overcome difficulties more easily. You see problems as challenges rather than insurmountable problems.

This sounds all very well but most affiliates will struggle from one time or another. Most will fall into a pit of despair at one time or another. I definitely have too! The key is to notice and control your state when this happens so it doesn’t stop you moving forwards.

Motivation For Affiliate Marketing – Your “Why?”

What is your “why?” for doing affiliate marketing? Write it down is great detail and look at it when you’re feeling like quitting! Here’s a few of the reasons I started (and continue to pursue) affiliate marketing as a career:

  • Financial independence – a job will never offer the financial independence you can have by making money independently of an employer
  • No boss – I had hundreds of jobs and many bosses. Not having a boss was always a priority for me
  • No commute – I commuted hundreds of miles while pursuing a career as a stunt performer. I was fed up of spending my life on the road. An affiliate business can be run from anywhere which means no more need to commute to a job.
  • Financial freedom – is different to financial independence. Financial freedom (for me) means to no longer have to worry about money and to always have more than I needed. What does it mean to you? This is something that affiliate marketing can deliver.
  • Greater choice – in terms of how you spend your time, who you spend it with and how you live. Affiliate marketing is the ultimate freedom lifestyle business once you get it working for you. Well worth pursuing in my opinion.

Whenever I was struggling with motivation in my affiliate business, I would look to my list of “why’s”. I simply couldn’t quit after I read them over!

Motivation For Affiliate Marketing – Lessons not Failures

Your experience as an affiliate isn’t entirely about what you achieve on the “outside” in terms of financial success. It’s also about what you learn about yourself on the journey. When you look to your affiliate business in this way, you can never fail unless you quit. “Failures” are actually lessons and when you’re “failing” you’re learning. There’s an expression in the community I’m a part of which is “fail forwards”.

Unless you fail at affiliate marketing, you’ve no experience to learn from. So the more you fail the more you learn and the faster you progress. When a small child falls down when learning to walk, she/he doesn’t give up! But affiliates will. When you look at your struggles in the same light as a child falling over when learning how to walk, you won’t quit! You’ll learn from the difficulties and eventually you’ll achieve success.

Count Small Successes

Most affiliates want the big wins and to make large size commissions and scale up to a global audience, replacing employment income as soon as possible. But this isn’t realistic. Instead, count the small successes like a hit on your website, or a lead on your email list. Celebrate the small wins as if they were big wins (which they are)!

If you do this, you can’t fail. You keep moving forwards, learning and growing and patting yourself on the back when you achieve something noteworthy. Eventually the small wins will take you to the larger wins.

Build Supportive Habits Around Your Affiliate Business

motivation for affiliate marketing

You can build supportive habits around your affiliate business which help you stay consistent and motivated. Motivation doesn’t last, much like will power. So use your limited will power to create supportive habits which hold you accountable to your online business. Here’s a few ideas:

  • Read/listen to self help and motivational books – see motivational books pdf free downloads. You can also access these on audible.com
  • Join a community of like minded people. Access through this free video series.
  • Make a daily habit of doing something productive on your business – blogging, or watching a training video for example
  • Start a gratitude journal – gratitude helps you stay in a positive state of mind
  • Write down your goals – short term, medium term and longer term. Then assign daily habits which line up with your goals in every category.

Don’t reply on motivation to keep you going, it won’t! Build habits which you can do even when you’re at a low ebb.

Motivation For Affiliate Marketing – Alignment With Your Intentions

If you’re out of alignment in your intentions with affiliate marketing, it can be a more frustrating experience than it needs to be. For example, are you proud of the products you are promoting? Did you purchase them yourself? If not, ask yourself why someone would buy from you. Promoting products you have no interest or enthusiasm for is much more difficult that selling those you’re genuinely inspired by.

motivation for affiliate marketing

Likewise, if you’re struggling with your promotion method, or can’t really afford to use paid marketing, is this becoming a problem? Would you be better off using content marketing and building a blog, or building a YouTube channel? There’s many ways to do affiliate marketing and your experience will change once you’ve found a strategy which supports your lifestyle, budget and natural leanings. If you’ve been doing something for some time with little to show, try looking for another product or marketing strategy.

It can take a long time to find your feet with affiliate marketing. But choose to never quit and you’re already ahead of the 95% who drop out!

Autopilot Business

An autopilot business is the stuff of dreams! It works for you even when you aren’t working. There’s no staff to employ, products to shift or customers to deal with! So how does an autopilot business work, what is it and how do you get started?

autopilot business
If you’re still trading time for money, you may feel like this!

There’s a few ways to automate a business and a couple of models which can be relatively hands free. Business models such as drop shipping and affiliate marketing allow anyone to become third party referrers of products. You don’t need to own any products or deliver any services personally. You simply refer customers online to other people’s products or services.

This can be done in a number of ways such as blogging, email marketing, paid advertising and other online (and offline) advertising methods. Initially, building an autopilot business can take some time and effort. But ultimately it can be running completely hands free, allowing you a very free and flexible lifestyle.

Autopilot Business – Which One?

I’m a fan of affiliate marketing because it’s a very simple business model. With drop shipping, there’s a little more involved because you are taking orders from customers and dealing with the product owners when ordering goods. With affiliate marketing, all you need to do is promote your affiliate link. See also affiliate marketing vs drop shipping.

autopilot business

When you make a sale through your link, you are automatically credited with the sale. Products are delivered by the product owners or manufacturers. There’s no need to deal with customers either as this is done in-house too. So the only job of an affiliate marketer is to send people to products and services online. This can be automated through the use of online marketing techniques.

Within the business model of affiliate marketing, there’s many models and strategies too. Not every affiliate marketer follows the same path. So it’s important to understand the various affiliate marketing business models so you can make the most of an autopilot business.

Autopilot Business – Types Of Affiliate Products

The best autopilot affiliate business gives you multiple earning methods from a product range. Selling only one product severely limits your earning potential from affiliate marketing. Depending on the type of product you sell, your earnings can be as little as 1% commission, as an affiliate.

But with the right kinds of products you can earn from 30% – 100% commission on certain products. Digital products typically pay much more than physical products. Amazon’s commission structure ranges from 1% to 20% commission. On average, most physical products pay from 5% to 10% commission.

With subscription affiliate programs and high ticket affiliate products you can earn the most from larger commissions and recurring commissions which come in month after month for each sale you make.

Fastest Way To Build An Autopilot Business Online

The fastest way to build an autopilot business online is to use a multiple income funnel affiliate program which offers a range of products including subscription affiliate products which pay ongoing commissions. There’s several marketing strategies affiliate marketers use, but most successful affiliates will build an email list to help them build a customer base. Knowing Your Perfect Customer “Avatar”

The fastest way to market an affiliate marketing sales funnel is by using paid marketing. Platforms such as YouTube, Adwords and Facebook offers the ability to target your ads towards a very specific kind of customer. Marketers should know their “perfect customer avatar”. That is the type of person who will be the best performing customer; it’s an important part of understanding advertising.

Once you an identify your perfect customer avatar, you can target them with your marketing and reach a huge audience very quickly. If you do this successfully, you can create an autopilot business. Plus, you can scale it up globally once you’re profitable too!

Digital products can be sold globally and downloaded or accessed remotely from the internet. This means there’s no cost involved in postage and handling. As such, affiliates are paid larger amounts per sale. Typically digital products will pay 30-40% commissions compared to 5-10% for physical products.

Affiliate Marketing Conversion Rates

Affiliate marketing conversion rates will vary according to traffic and products. An average, conversion rate ranges from 0.5% to 1%, but they can also be much higher. Conversions (sales) divided by website visits multiplied by 100 equals your conversion rate. So with 2000 visitors to a website (for example) and 10 sales, your conversion rate is 10 divided by 2000 multiplied by 100 (per cent) = 0.5%.

Getting a higher rate of sales can therefore be achieved by increasing your traffic or your conversion rate, or both.

Affiliate Marketing Conversion Rates

Before affiliate marketing, sales people would go door to door trying to sell their wares. Other than knocking on more doors to make more sales, sales people realised that if they change something in their sales approach or tactic, they could sell more products with fewer knocks on doors! Less effort would therefore be needed to increase sales if they became better persuaders/sales people.

The same is true of affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, people buy directly from websites or email lists. By altering certain elements of the customer journey, affiliates can increase their conversion rates even with the same amount of traffic. If they also increase their traffic volume, they can increase their sales even more dramatically.

Affiliate Marketing Conversion Rates – Increasing Conversions

So, the two elements for affiliates to consider when trying to increase their sales are:

  • Traffic – more traffic equals more sales (providing conversion rate is above 0%!)
  • The rate at which traffic converts into customers (conversion rate)

To improve conversion rate affiliates can alter some element of their sales process. This can be something on their website, or their email messages. There’s a few things you can change in order to increase your website conversion rate.

niche blogging

Increasing Conversion Rate On An Affiliate Website

  • Build an email list – affiliates will usually offer something for free on their websites in exchange for subscribers email information. They can then build a longer term relationship with their email subscribers through email marketing campaigns. See the power of email marketing.
  • Change an element of the offer. From a sales page, affiliates can cross test different headings, images, offers and text/copy to determine which ones perform the best across a significant number of visitors.
  • Increase/decrease the number of emails sent out to subscribers. Many affiliates will testify to an increase in sales following an increase in email marketing messages sent out. By trying different strategies, you can compare and contrast to find better converting strategies.
  • Offer more opt in offers – Often you will see multiple opt in offers on an affiliate website. This gives your visitors more options to opt in to your email list.

Content Congruency

affiliate marketing conversion rates

Another important element of your affiliate marketing conversion rate is your traffic source. If your traffic comes from your content, you need to ensure your content brings the right kind of visitor to your website. If traffic comes from paid advertising, the same applies. It can be easy to overlook this issue and bring a tonne of traffic to your website, none of which is buyer traffic.

For example, if you create content which attracts freebie seekers, using “free” in your keywords, you’re much less likely to convert this traffic than content such as a product review. A product review attracts buyer traffic. People look for reviews to help them make a purchasing decision. People look for free stuff when they don’t intent to buy something, but rather they want something for free.

So, by paying attention to the content you create on your website, you can increase your conversion rate simply by understanding the search intent of your audience before writing/creating your content. To find content ideas and ideas for keywords in your ads, you can use Google’s keyword planner tool.

affiliate marketing conversion rates

Unless you are careful in creating an advert, you can easily have your advert shown for keywords which may attract freebie seekers, instead of serious buyers. If you’re a content creator, choose keywords carefully and think about the search intent before creating content.

Cross Testing Website Elements

Cross testing is one of the best ways to improve your website’s conversion rates. You can cross test many elements of your website:

  • Your Opt In offer – cross test images, headings and text
  • Your website layout/theme
  • Landing pages – from a paid marketing campaign
  • Menus on your main landing page

To cross test a particular website element, you will want to record your conversion rate across a number of visits. If 1000 visitors only gives you a conversion rate of 0.5% in sales, you can change one small element and then record the difference in conversion rate across another 1000 visitors. By doing this consistently, you can build a picture of which element converts the best between the two. Then split test again with another element. One of the best ways to do this is with landing pages.

Access a landing page software here.

With a landing page, you have a specific web page designed to convert a visitor into a subscriber by offering them a free giveaway. When you cross test landing pages against each other, you learn which ones convert better across a certain number of visitors. Access a landing page software here.

Where Can I Post My Blog To Get More Traffic?

Where can I post my blog to get more traffic? One of the simplest solutions to getting more traffic is of course to pay for it! Even a tiny daily budget can bring more traffic to your blog with virtually zero effort! A simple strategy is to set up a dynamic advert with Google Ads, or Microsoft’s (formally Bing’s) equivalent.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pqr56me1jLI

The video above explains how to do this for a tiny daily budget of just £1 a day! Dynamic adverts allow you to copy and paste your blog website’s url directly into the ad creator. Google then scans your website for content and creates a dynamic advert based on your blog posts. The advert title directs visitors to the appropriate content and so this can be a very effective way of getting targeted visitors pretty instantly.

The best thing about paid traffic is that you can easily increase it. Simply increase your marketing budget. Other paid marketing platforms include Facebook, YouTube, Bing (Microsoft Ads), and many others.

Where Can I Post My Blog To Get More Traffic? Social Media Of Course!

Social media is of course another place you can post your blog content to get more visitors to your site. How well this works will of course depend on your content, social media presence and connections (people who will see it). So it can be a good idea to also spend some time interacting on social media for this to work well. If you have little time for social media, it can still have an effect on both your direct traffic and your SEO (search engine optimisation). Social media presence is of course a ranking factor for SEO, so the more links you have from your social media accounts, the better!

You can also automate the process of posting your content on social media. Use a plugin called Revive Old Posts. This plugin lets you automatically syndicate old and new content to social media platforms of your choice. The free version is limited to two social media accounts. You can also connect your Twitter account to another free plugin called IfThatThenThis.com. This allows free syndication to social media platforms based on an automated tweet from your using Revive Old Posts. See article: Auto Post to social media from WordPress.

Where Can I Post My Blog To Get More Traffic? SEO & Content

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is another strategy used by bloggers. By creating a lot of content, bloggers can, over time, get found on Google, Bing, Yahoo, Duckduckgo.com and other search engines. Even if you don’t get a top ranking on Google, you can still get found from the other search engines for many of your keywords.

niche blogging

To get your content found using SEO it’s a good idea to use an SEO plugin when writing your blog posts. I use Yoast SEO to help me write SEO friendly content which has more chance of ranking on the search engine results pages (SERPS).

Of course many of the most competitive keyword phrases are far too competitive to rank for. To get round this problem you can find long tail keywords with low SEO difficulty. These are keywords which have much less competition in the search engine rankings. They typically contain three or more keywords and have fewer competing websites for them. As such you’re in with a much better chance of ranking for them, particularly if you create some high quality content.

With high quality content on your website, people will naturally link to it over time (if they can find it). This builds a nice, natural looking link profile which Google loves and is great for your SEO.

Where Can I Post My Blog To Get More Traffic? Quora.com

Quora.com is a question and answer website which attracts a lot of visitors. You can benefit from Quora as a blogger if you answer questions relevant to your content. Then, post your content link in your answer. Of course Quora.com is aware of this practice and they don’t like spammers! But if you post some real value on their site in your answers, and your link is relevant, they will allow this practice. You just need to be careful not to just paste you content without offering some value first. Otherwise your posts will be removed.

See affiliate marketing on Quora.com for more on this strategy.

GuestPosting

Guest posting is still a great way to build links back to your blog from other websites in your subject area/niche. Not every blogger offers guest posting though. To find guest posting opportunities you can use Google and do a basic phrase search (using quotes), using the following in conjunction with your main keyword:

  • “Guest post”
  • “write for us”
  • “guest article”
  • “guest post opportunities”
  • “this is a guest post by”
  • “contributing writer”
  • “want to write for”
  • “submit blog post”
  • “contribute to our site”
  • “guest column”
  • “suggest a post”
  • “submit an article”
  • “contributor guidelines”
  • “become guest writer”
  • “submit news”
  • “guest poster wanted”
  • “accepting guest posts”
  • “writers wanted”
  • “become an author”
  • “become a contributor”

Once you find a suitable blog/website which accepts guest posts, you can apply to write for them. If your post is acceptable you can also link back to your own blog. This is helpful for direct traffic, especially if the blog is popular, but also for SEO. This can take some time and effort of course. But if you want to outsource the job to someone else you can use the services below (click image).

How To Become An Affiliate Marketer

If you’re wondering how to become an affiliate marketer, it is fairly straight forward. You can join an affiliate program and get your unique identifying link. When you promote your link successfully, you get paid according to the sales you make. Amazon is a popular affiliate website, where anyone can join and promote their own links to the various products on the site.

how affiliate marketing works
Access a free workshop video series here.

What isn’t so straight forward about affiliate marketing is actually making sales on a regular basis. Many affiliates join a program and get their link. Then they become stuck because they don’t know how to promote their affiliate link.

There’s many ways to promote your affiliate link once you have joined a program. You can build a website and create content. Or, you can run paid marketing. You can send people to an email list where you collect their email address.

Then you can follow up with useful email messages and promote your link through your emails. Social media offers many other ways to promote affiliate links, either through paid marketing or through the various organic and free methods available.

How To Become An Affiliate Marketer

There are many affiliate marketers who join a program but don’t know how to promote their affiliate link. The “Crux” of being successful as an affiliate marketer is in the name: affiliate marketer. Those who get good at putting their products in front of people who want them, become successful affiliates. Don’t aim to become an affiliate marketer because there are plenty of affiliates who don’t get their businesses to a profitable level. Aim to become a successful affiliate who can make an income from affiliate marketing on a consistent basis.

Being successful as an affiliate means going further than the many who quit! 95% of affiliates will quit, but that’s not to say affiliate marketing is impossible, just that it’s harder than most affiliates think. To make it work for you, you simply need to keep going where the others quit. The first step in making affiliate marketing work for you is in educating yourself to the best ways to make it work!

How To Become A Successful Affiliate Marketer – Value

Successful affiliates have learned to put value before the sale. Whether you become a blogger, a video marketer, use paid marketing or use social media or email marketing, you’ll come to achieve success more quickly if you put the value before the commission!

As a beginner myself I used to only think about the sale. How could I get more sales? But after learning from successful mentors I realised I needed to help people before I could make the sale. So I changed my mindset from “getting” to giving!

It sounds like such a simple shift but for years I struggled with affiliate marketing. It was only when this occurred did I find lasting change. I no longer focused on selling, which I was pretty bad at anyway! Instead I focused on what value I could add. This led to more traffic on my websites and ultimately more sales.

how to become an affiliate marketer

Most people have experienced the sales person hanging over them in a shop, asking questions and being too needy. What does it do? Pushes you away! The same is true of affiliate marketing. Most people can sense when they’re being sold to and walk in the other direction. But when you give value people want more of you, rather than less!

How To Become An Affiliate Marketer – Be “You”!

Why do you want to become an affiliate marketer? Imagine yourself with your perfect affiliate marketing business running as you intended. What are you doing? Knowing the end goal of building an affiliate business is something useful in determining your path.

how to become an affiliate marketer

One of the best ways to approach an affiliate business is to choose a path which is congruent with you being you. Choose something to promote, for example, that you can fully get behind. Don’t choose a path you will hate!

In my early affiliate days I decided to build a blog about mushroom harvesting! I knew nothing of this subject so had to research every blog post I wrote. This was exhausting and after several months I was fully fed up of the topic! The website did rank on Google, and I got some traffic, but it wasn’t aligned with who I was, my passion or even an interest. So it quickly fell down the listings when another more enthusiastic mushroom harvester took first place!

The point of the story is to choose something you will be enthusiastic about for a long period of time. Affiliate marketing can be tough, so choosing something you enjoy is definitely a much better “seed” to build a business around. When you’re aligned, everything feels right. Work is easier and enjoyable. When you’re misaligned, you will procrastinate, worry, doubt and struggle.

Alignment comes from knowing you’re on the right path for you, in your affiliate marketing journey.

Marketing: Promotion Of Affiliate Marketing Products/Services

The promotion of affiliate marketing products and services is where the rubber meets the road in affiliate marketing. You can sign up to an affiliate program and get you’re affiliate link in only a couple of hours! That’s the easy part. But promoting your affiliate link can take a lot more effort.

It’s well worth joining a training program which gives you all the tools and software you need to get started more quickly. You can access one through this free email series. Once you have set up your website, email marketing software and affiliate links, you need to promote your landing page and/or website.

Most pay per click revenue sharing programs will pay less than $1 for a click. But this will depend on the topic of your website. More competitive topics offer larger rewards.

Standard Affiliate Commission – More Bang For Your Buck

If you’re an affiliate you can maximise your earnings through affiliate marketing by choosing programs which pay high ticket and recurring commissions. High ticket programs typically offer commissions of $500 or more. They have larger price tags and even physical products which are priced at over $1,000 will pay a lot more than your standard affiliate product will.

high ticket products

Affiliate products which offer recurring commissions are things like memberships or software products. With these kinds of products you can earn a lot more for what can amount to the same amount of work, if you’re an affiliate.

Higher Valued Products

By choosing higher valued products to sell, affiliates can earn a lot more even with less sales. If you sell a standard priced product from Clickbank, for example, you’ll usually make 40% commission from a product valued at around $100. So in order to make $4000, you’ll need to sell 400 of them! Or you could sell a high ticket item worth $2000 instead and earn $160 – at 8% commission. This means you’ll only need to sell 25 items to reach the same target of $4000!

Better still, you can find products to sell which are valued above $100,000! With even only an 8% commission rate, you can earn $8000 on a single sale.

high ticket affiliate programs

Here’s an example of a high ticket product available on the site Hammacher Schlemmer. At 8% commission, this submarine can pay out a tidy commission of $216,000!

Summary

Although the standard affiliate commission ranges from 5% to 30%, there’s a huge variety according to the kinds of products you choose to promote. Physical products tend to pay lower rates of commission than digital ones do. Typically physical products pay from 3-10% while digital products typically pay from 30-40%. Digital products require fewer costs for delivery and manufacturing, which might explain the higher level of commission.

There’s also high ticket products which either offer higher commission levels or a higher price tag (or both). Some subscription based affiliate products offer ongoing recurring commissions to affiliates. These are good to use for a regular revenue, especially for beginners who are learning.

Auto Post To Social Media From WordPress

You can easily auto post to social media from WordPress using this clever hack! Plus it’s completely free! If you’re a blogger, one of the main things you need to do is share your content to get the most from it. But building back links is hard work and reaching out to other influencers is tough too. Another way to get more eyes on your content and build your SEO authority is through sharing on social media.

Doing this manually is time consuming and laborious. So why do it manually when you can automate the entire process and share to many social media platforms hands free? Here’s how it’s done.

Auto Post To Social Media From WordPress – Revive Old Posts

Firstly you’ll need a free plugin called Revive Old Posts. Revive Old Posts lets you syndicate content out to two social platforms with the free version. You can upgrade to a paid version for more functionality. But you don’t need to if you use this strategy I’m about to share.

You can get Revive Old Posts here. Or go to your WordPress plugins platform and search for it there.

Auto Post To Social Media From WordPress

Once you have found it you can add the plugin to your WordPress dashboard and activate it. Head over to the settings section and connect your social media platforms. I have connected facebook and Twitter. The free version gives you two options to connect. But make one of the Twitter and you can use this strategy to syndicate to other social media platforms for free.

I set my minimum interval between shares at 12 hours, to minimise the danger of being flagged for or looking too spammy! I also set my minimum post age to 0 so that there’s no limit on the age of posts I can share. If you share too often to some platforms, you may be flagged for spamming and this may upset the automation process. So be aware of this and choose accordingly. Plus, if you’re posting every couple of hours it looks bad.

Make sure you are posting appropriately to the right platforms because once you set this up it will go on continuously, unless there’s an issue which stops it.

Auto Post To Social Media From WordPress

There’s also an option to immediately share your posts as you publish them which is really useful. This means you don’t need to manually share content anymore to social media platforms. You can configure this in the settings menu on the plugin but also on your post settings when you publish.

Auto Post To Social Media From WordPress

Auto Post To Social Media From WordPress – ITTT

Now you have your Revive Old Posts plugin set up you should be able to auto publish posts to two social media accounts, one of which should be Twitter – for this next step to work.

Next head over to an app called IfThisThenThatIFTTT.com This app lets you set a trigger based on your Twitter automated tweet which is syndicated to many other social media accounts. What’s best is that it’s free!

IFTTT.com

IFTTT.com offers multiple social media options so you can post to many accounts from a single account.

IF THIS THEN THAT

You’ll just need to set up multiple accounts before you connect them in the app. If a particular social media platform doesn’t appear on this platform there’s another solution too. Buffer.com offers a similar service and can syndicate published posts to other social media accounts.

Considerations

If you don’t have much content on your website, over posting will cause you to publish and share the same content over and over. This can look a little spammy so set your publishing agenda accordingly and appropriate to your content. If you have a lot of content already, this is a great tool to get more eyes on it with only a one time piece of work.

Likewise with over publishing. If you publish too often you run the risk of being flagged as a spammer by any of your social media platforms. So choose your publishing interval accordingly and appropriately.

It’s also worth interacting on your social media platforms and making your presence know otherwise than posting these automatic shares. Too much automation shows and you need to build connections personally too in order to get the most out of this strategy.

This is a “set it and forget it” type of auto posting. However, this can work against you if you’re not aware of which platforms you’re posting too and how often. Use caution and don’t over post. Interact normally on the platforms you’re using and build up some relevant connections with people through personal use too!

Affiliate Marketing Tools For Beginners

What are the best affiliate marketing tools for beginners? I started learning affiliate marketing in the early 2000’s and had a lot of problems. There was no simple strategy for doing affiliate marketing and I was bamboozled by many different methods and tactics. I jumped from course to course, looking for the “magic formula”, never thinking that it was hard work and persistence! But of course you can still work hard in the wrong direction! Working hard and smart is the key to success in affiliate marketing.

In 2014 I found some affiliate marketing mentors and coaches who helped me learn the best strategies and overcome my lack of faith in affiliate marketing for good! So I built this site to help other struggling affiliates who were in the same boat I was. So, in this article I am sharing some of the tools which have helped me the most with my affiliate marketing business. I hope they can help you too and give you the ability to make affiliate marketing work better for you.

Affiliate Marketing Tools For Beginners – Autoresponder

When I began affiliate marketing I didn’t have an autoresponder. I relied heavily on free website traffic which I couldn’t really control. I spent a huge amount of time trying to get free traffic from the search engines. But I didn’t know to build an email list. A list is one of the most important tools an affiliate marketer can have. It gives them the ability to control their traffic, build longer term relationships with their subscribers and promote affiliate products while offering value to their list.

You should definitely get an autoresponder if you’re going to take affiliate marketing seriously. Get a free autoresponder for affiliate marketing by clicking on the image below.

Affiliate Marketing Tools For Beginners – Help & Support

One of the best things I found online was a community of other affiliate marketers. Without help and support from people who are going through a similar learning curve as you, you will default back to friends and relatives for emotional and mental support. Sadly most people aren’t entrepreneurially minded, and they will often tell you not to bother:

“Go back to your job, stop dreaming of making an income online and grow up!”

Finding others on this path is difficult in the normal world. Affiliates are still a minority in most people’s lives. You can join an online community, get help and support and access tools, training and resources through this all in one business system and mentorship community. Affiliate Marketing Tools For Beginners – Get More Traffic

One of the best companies I’ve found online to help with website optimisation, link building and SEO (search engine optimisation) is TheHoth.com. This company offers all kinds of website services which can help you gain more traffic to your website. Without traffic an affiliate will struggle to make sales. So whether if you’re creating content as an affiliate, you can enlist the help of experts to make your job easier.

I’m not a fan of link building and so I found this company to be genuine and helpful regarding finding a strategy which meant I could focus on the things I was good at and not spend time on those actions which I hated!

Affiliate Marketing Tools For Beginners – Google’s Keyword Planner

I’ve used Google’s keyword planner extensively as an affiliate. The keyword planner should definitely be in your affiliate tool box; whether you are using paid marketing or you’re a content creator.

What does the keyword tools do? Google’s keyword planner shows you the most popular keywords being searched in your key topics. You simply type in your main keywords into the planner, and it shows you all the keyword searches happening on Google over the last several months and years.

Google's keyword planner

This is super useful because you can either target your adverts towards those keywords which are most relevant for your product/s, or create content relevant for your audience if you’re aiming for free traffic from the SERPS – search engine results pages.

You’ll need a Google account to access the keyword planner but it’s completely free. Access here.

Keywords Everywhere

Keywords everywhere is a useful keyword research plugin which connects to your browser. When you do a Google keyword search, it gives a tonne of data including related long tail keywords, search volume, cost per click and volume data.

Rather than using multiple data collection websites, and crossing backwards and forwards, Keywords Everywhere gives you everything on the same page. This can save you a heap of time and effort. There’s a free version and a premium version. Access here.

SEO Tool For Bloggers

Yoast SEO is definitely one of my favourite tools which I’ve used to great effect. It’s a free plugin which helps you with your content writing. The tool connects to any WordPress blog and helps you write SEO friendly content which performs better in the search engines.

Yoast SEO basically gives you a green light when all your ducks are in a row in terms of SEO – search engine optimisation. If you’re a blogger, or content creator your SEO efforts are massively important because they determine how well your content will fair in the free search engines results. Access here.

Of course this also comes down to the quality of your content and the relative competition. But the plugin can give you a massive advantage by helping you place your keywords in your copy, image alt attributes and headings. Revive Old Posts

Revive Old Posts is another free WordPress plugin which I’ve found amazing! It lets you automatically syndicate your blog posts (old and new) to social media platforms.

Revive Old Posts

Once set up this tool will work completely on autopilot, helping you get more eyes on your content. The free version lets you share automatically to two social media platforms. You can upgrade to get more access but you can also use this plugin in combination with another amazing tool to do the same job for free! Access Revive Old Posts here.

If This Then That – ITTT

IFTTT is another clever plugin which allows you to connect your social media platforms together to syndicate content automatically.

Does Affiliate Marketing REALLY Work?

Does affiliate marketing really work? Or is it just some kind of scam? Affiliate marketing is a legitimate online business model in which sales can be referred by third parties. When someone promotes a product through their affiliate link, and makes a sale, they earn a commission based on this sale. Affiliate marketing does really work, yes. But it doesn’t work for everyone. Many people start affiliate marketing with hopes of replacing their income through online sales, but many of them quit. In fact, there’s a huge drop out rate in affiliate marketing at around 95%. See affiliate marketing failure rate.

Why is this then when affiliate marketing is a legit way to earn money online? There’s a few reasons why so many people don’t get the success they desire when it comes to affiliate marketing.

Why Affiliates Fail

Here’s a few of the main reasons:

  • There’s a very low bar to start affiliate marketing which means almost anyone can “give it a go”. When the market is so flooded, it means more competition but also a large drop out rate of those expecting an easy ride. You only need a laptop and internet connection to start promoting other people’s products online.
  • People have high expectations but aren’t prepared (or don’t expect) to work hard for their success. So many people buy into the expectation of easy money with affiliate marketing, which isn’t the case. Affiliate marketing is a business and like any business it requires work to succeed.
  • Most people aren’t prepared for business – coming from an employee background can easily work against you when you’re in business. Trading time for money in a “per hour” employment is very different from entirely performance based pay. When you don’t make sales, you don’t earn any commissions. In the early stages this can lead to disappointment and frustration; especially if your belief is already very low.

Does Affiliate Marketing REALLY Work? Yes – But It Ain’t Easy!

Affiliate marketing can be difficult. If you’re not prepared for struggle, it’s probably not for you. Most affiliates will struggle at least in the beginning. It can take months or even years to get an affiliate business into profit. Depending on how you go about building an internet business, it can cost a lot or take up a lot of your time.

The main two strategies for selling other people’s products online are:

  • Paid marketing – using a paid marketing platform is the fastest and most scalable strategy to sell other people’s products online
  • Organic/free marketing strategies – typically takes much longer and is less scalable than the paid methods.
beginners guide to affiliate marketing

Organic marketing methods such as blogging takes much longer because you’ll need to create a lot of content before it starts working for you. With paid marketing, you can start a campaign and have it running within an hour! This doesn’t mean your advertising strategy will be successful though. Many campaigns run by affiliates will fail to produce a profit on their first try. But when a campaign does make profit, it’s very easy to replicate this success and of course scale up to a global audience.

Whether running paid marketing or building content as an affiliate, it all takes time. If you’re desperate to earn immediately from affiliate marketing, you’re under huge pressure from the get-go! This is hardly likely to help!

Does Affiliate Marketing REALLY Work? The Negative Feedback Loop

As a beginner in affiliate marketing it can be tempting to jump from one course to another, looking for a quick way to make “it” work! This is an easy “rookie” mistake to make! It’s also known as “shiny object syndrome” and this can eat into both your time and your belief about whether affiliate marketing can work for you.

You can also spend heaps of time on unproductive activities as a beginner, such as polishing your website to make it look fantastic; even if you have zero traffic!

Months can go by without actually driving your business forwards if you fall into either one of these traps. See also 23 affiliate mistakes newbie affiliates should avoid.

does affiliate marketing really work

All this time doesn’t equal income with affiliate marketing. Income only comes to affiliates when they actually generate sales. This can be months into your affiliate marketing journey.

This is a tough pill to swallow if you expected your shiny new course to give you instant income! Of course it won’t unless you take the right actions and take them consistently. But as a newbie, you don’t fully trust the path you’re being shown, so you make mistakes, reinvent the wheel and look for a quick and easier path!

Your lack of results testifies to your doubts and fears that affiliate marketing does not work! But in reality you just haven’t taken the right steps, or enough of them for long enough.

Does Affiliate Marketing REALLY Work? The Positive Feedback Loop

If you are able to stick at affiliate marketing for long enough to make an online sale (most people won’t), congratulations because you’ve started the positive feedback loop. You need to learn to celebrate small wins in order to begin the process of the positive feedback loop. Once this phase begins, you can see that affiliate marketing does in fact work. You have proof for yourself that you can earn from it, even if it’s only a small commission you have made.

does affiliate marketing really work

You can even start this process before you make a sale by looking for positive outcomes from things you have done. A hit (visitor) on your website, a new subscriber on your email list, or having created your first website are all small wins you can celebrate.

Top affiliates can earn large incomes from their online businesses because they started with the small things they could do immediately in the moment. They just kept on doing them for longer than those who dropped out!

To start the positive feedback loop as an affiliate you only need to keep moving forwards slowly at your own pace. Notice (and celebrate) the small wins. Keep going and don’t quit!

Chinese Bamboo Tree

I often mention the Chinese Bamboo tree in my posts because it makes the perfect analogy with affiliate marketing. The Chinese bamboo tree takes a lot of nurturing. In fact it gestates underground for four to five years before it even breaks the surface of the soil! But once it does, it can grow 90 feet in only a few weeks.

chinese bamboo

Affiliate marketing is much like this, although it may not take as long as 5 years, depending on how you go about it! It can grow very quickly once you have put in the ground work. Ultimately an affiliate business can give you a passive income too.

To get past the nurturing phase of your affiliate business takes a lot of belief. This belief is hard to come by if you’re in a hurry, especially if you have nothing to show for your efforts. Reinforcing your belief as an affiliate is therefore one of the most important skills to master on the affiliate journey. Often we aren’t surrounded by other online business people but well meaning friends and relatives who sow the seeds of fear rather than the seeds of belief/success!

Summary

Does affiliate marketing really work? Yes affiliate marketing does work for some, although there’s a huge drop out rate in this industry. Affiliates promote and sell other people’s products and services online in exchange for commissions based on their sales. As more people enter into the affiliate marketing space, it becomes more difficult to compete with other affiliates for attention.

Whether you become a blogger, use paid marketing, email marketing or video marketing, if you’re an affiliate you’re putting yourself in between the customer and the products which is being sold. This can be very competitive and not everyone succeeds with it.

Those who do succeed are able to build an independent income from anywhere in the world. If you can see this prize for yourself and keep going for long enough, you’re far more likely to succeed as an affiliate.
