Auto Post To Social Media From WordPress

You can easily auto post to social media from WordPress using this clever hack! Plus it’s completely free! If you’re a blogger, one of the main things you need to do is share your content to get the most from it. But building back links is hard work and reaching out to other influencers is tough too. Another way to get more eyes on your content and build your SEO authority is through sharing on social media.

Doing this manually is time consuming and laborious. So why do it manually when you can automate the entire process and share to many social media platforms hands free? Here’s how it’s done.

Auto Post To Social Media From WordPress – Revive Old Posts

Firstly you’ll need a free plugin called Revive Old Posts. Revive Old Posts lets you syndicate content out to two social platforms with the free version. You can upgrade to a paid version for more functionality. But you don’t need to if you use this strategy I’m about to share.

You can get Revive Old Posts here. Or go to your WordPress plugins platform and search for it there.

Once you have found it you can add the plugin to your WordPress dashboard and activate it. Head over to the settings section and connect your social media platforms. I have connected facebook and Twitter. The free version gives you two options to connect. But make one of the Twitter and you can use this strategy to syndicate to other social media platforms for free.

I set my minimum interval between shares at 12 hours, to minimise the danger of being flagged for or looking too spammy! I also set my minimum post age to 0 so that there’s no limit on the age of posts I can share. If you share too often to some platforms, you may be flagged for spamming and this may upset the automation process. So be aware of this and choose accordingly. Plus, if you’re posting every couple of hours it looks bad.

Make sure you are posting appropriately to the right platforms because once you set this up it will go on continuously, unless there’s an issue which stops it.

There’s also an option to immediately share your posts as you publish them which is really useful. This means you don’t need to manually share content anymore to social media platforms. You can configure this in the settings menu on the plugin but also on your post settings when you publish.

Auto Post To Social Media From WordPress – ITTT

Now you have your Revive Old Posts plugin set up you should be able to auto publish posts to two social media accounts, one of which should be Twitter – for this next step to work.

Next head over to an app called IfThisThenThatIFTTT.com This app lets you set a trigger based on your Twitter automated tweet which is syndicated to many other social media accounts. What’s best is that it’s free!

IFTTT.com

IFTTT.com offers multiple social media options so you can post to many accounts from a single account.

IF THIS THEN THAT

You’ll just need to set up multiple accounts before you connect them in the app. If a particular social media platform doesn’t appear on this platform there’s another solution too. Buffer.com offers a similar service and can syndicate published posts to other social media accounts.

Considerations

If you don’t have much content on your website, over posting will cause you to publish and share the same content over and over. This can look a little spammy so set your publishing agenda accordingly and appropriate to your content. If you have a lot of content already, this is a great tool to get more eyes on it with only a one time piece of work.

Likewise with over publishing. If you publish too often you run the risk of being flagged as a spammer by any of your social media platforms. So choose your publishing interval accordingly and appropriately.

It’s also worth interacting on your social media platforms and making your presence know otherwise than posting these automatic shares. Too much automation shows and you need to build connections personally too in order to get the most out of this strategy.

This is a “set it and forget it” type of auto posting. However, this can work against you if you’re not aware of which platforms you’re posting too and how often. Use caution and don’t over post. Interact normally on the platforms you’re using and build up some relevant connections with people through personal use too!
