Smart Affiliate Success

Smart affiliate success means working smart not just hard. As a beginner affiliate I worked incredibly hard at all the wrong activities! It got me nowhere – besides to learn the error of my ways! I was excited and rushed in joining any course I could find.

One early course I took taught how to build and rank websites on Google. Sadly though for me, I failed over and over again to rank most of these websites. Google updates, and a lack of understanding were to blame. I rushed these sites and threw them up thinking the more I had the greater chances of success I had. But this strategy was poorly founded, and most of what I did amounted to nothing.

Another course I took taught me paid advertising. But it didn’t teach Google compliance and I was quickly shut down! I did make a few sales but again, my lack of understanding put me back months. To be a “smart” affiliate, you need to combine understanding and knowledge with enthusiasm and action. Action without the right strategy and knowledge won’t get you far, and likewise knowledge without action won’t get you anywhere either!

Smart Affiliate Success – My Journey

My affiliate journey has been a difficult one, as I expect for many who have even the smallest success with an online business. Making sales online is a great thing. It means you can repeat that success and turn it into a real income which can replace whatever else you’re doing for money. This is a huge incentive, particularly if you despise your job, boss or the commute to work, or, if you haven’t found satisfying work.

smart affiliate success

But working smart is ten times as effective with an affiliate business. One thing I learned which supercharged my success was to promote recurring income affiliate programs/products. This was something I didn’t understand when I first started learning affiliate marketing. I promoted low value physical products and earned a pittance when I eventually make a sale. It was years later when I discovered the ability to earn recurring commissions. What a waste of time!

Memberships and subscription products which carry recurring commissions are one of the best ways to work “smart” as an affiliate. Using high ticket affiliate products is another.

Smart Affiliate Success – Paid Marketing

One of my best successes was through using paid marketing to send people to a landing page and collecting email subscribers. This is one of the best ways to do affiliate marketing. If you’ve been blogging away for years and are still struggling to make money with affiliate marketing, I suggest a change is in order. I did this, (blogging) and was always deferring my success to “some time in the future” when Google, or whoever would reward me for all my hard work!

Alas they never did!

Looking back I abandoned this early success too quickly when Google banned my Adwords account. I did try and retrieve it, but didn’t get anywhere. Back then a ban meant for life! So I switched to free organic methods and spent a long time creating content which didn’t really work.

When I eventually returned to paid marketing years later, I had a much better sales funnel:

high ticket funnel
  • Recurring income products
  • High ticket products
  • Using digital not physical products (Higher commissions)
  • Using a product range, not just a single product

This kind of funnel means it’s so much easier to be profitable through using paid marketing. Combined with email marketing it gives you much more leverage.

Email Marketing Vs. Blogging

Email marketing is a huge part of my affiliate business today. But I was a struggling affiliate for years before even realising how important it was. Instead of building an email list, I struggled getting traffic for free because I didn’t dare to use any money in my advertising. Instead, I used to build niche websites and “hope” they would eventually get some traffic.

Hope is good for motivation but not for traffic, as I found out after a lot of work! Blogging is a slow marketing strategy which is great if it works but not so great if it doesn’t. I still blog today, but I also use paid marketing, which is much more effective, scalable and fast.

niche blogging

Email marketing is powerful too. It lets you build a relationship over weeks, months and even years with your subscribers. This simply doesn’t happen on a website. On a website, a visitor only has a small amount of time to make a purchase. Then, they are gone forever. But an email list is much better. It’s been proven that a customer needs many points of connection before making a buying decision, which is what email marketing is good for. A blog not so much.

The Busy Fool

You can work incredibly hard at affiliate marketing and still fail. I did for years! I worked hard at all the wrong activities, expecting some miracle to intervene and make all my websites suddenly visible to Google. But they were spammy websites in the beginning which offered very little value. I threw them up expecting miracles and was disappointed.

Later I realised that spending all day on the look of my website was a complete an utter waste of time! It got no traffic and made no money. So why was I spending so much time “polishing” it. A Yorkshire expression is “you can’t polish a turd”! But that’s exactly what I was doing!

By the time I heard the expression being a “busy fool” I had been doing it for a rather long time. Spending time on the things you enjoy doing, doesn’t always ring true with building a successful online business. In fact the opposite is more likely to be true. Spending time on money producing activities is more likely to produce the results you want from it. These activities are going to be the ones which you find distasteful, like looking at data and analysing. Shooting video perhaps and studying those boring topics like email open rates and tracking!

It took me a long time to actually shoot a video as I was massively uncomfortable with it. I much preferred writing and hiding behind my keyboard. This was fear of course which stood between me an affiliate marketing success for some time.

Scale

Affiliate marketing works best at a large scale with large numbers of people subscribing to your list and buying your products. If you rely on a marketing strategy which is organic, this is so much more difficult. It can be done but you are also up against a lot of competition. Blogging, for example is an organic marketing approach which can take months or years before you get the kind of traction you can attain in days with paid marketing.

Paid marketing can also be scaled up very quickly once you have a profitable campaign. A few months wisely spent would be to learn and understand a paid marketing strategy, even at a tiny amount per day. Once you have this understanding it can serve you for life. Alternatively, spend months blogging and achieve much less, or nothing!

Of course you need money to use paid marketing. But initially, you can start with a small daily budget while you are learning. Top affiliates eventually increase their budget to spend tens of thousands every month. But they do this knowing their marketing campaign is producing a profit consistently first. Smart affiliate success uses a high ticket affiliate product range (such as the SFM Digital Business system) and paid advertising to generate traction quickly.

Is Affiliate Marketing Really Profitable?

Is affiliate marketing really profitable? Affiliate marketing is a business model, and like any business model individual results will vary; depending on someone’s understanding and how they manage their business.

Many affiliates are profitable with their affiliate businesses, and many are not! Affiliate marketing can therefore definitely be profitable; but this isn’t everyone’s experience of the business. In fact affiliate marketing is a tough business and many affiliates will drop out before even making a single sale online. The affiliate business model is a performance based one, which means you need to make sales in order to generate revenue. No sales means no income!

is affiliate marketing really profitable

The affiliate marketing failure rate is around 95%, although it’s difficult to say this definitively because there are so many affiliates. That means only 5% make it in this business, or stick at it! That’s a huge drop out rate. But there’s a few reasons why so many people drop out of affiliate marketing.

Is Affiliate Marketing Really Profitable? Why So Many Quit

Imagine buying a franchise such as the McDonald’s franchise. You get to rent a store and with this comes the many costs of staff, equipment and advertising. As the franchisee, you already have incurred many costs before even beginning. It’s now your job to make the store successful financially. If you fail, you’re no profitable and you run out of money. The store closes and you’re in debt for all your costs, including any franchise fees which you may have a contract to pay, even if your store folds!

is affiliate marketing really profitable

Now compare this to the affiliate marketing business model: no large rental costs, no equipment, no staff to hire and very little to pay. In fact anyone can become an affiliate very quickly and easily by signing up to an affiliate partner program and getting an affiliate link. Comparing the two businesses, how many people will flock to the affiliate marketing business model compared to the McDonalds franchise? This explains why so many affiliates will drop out. They risk nothing to try and this opens the business up to anyone with a laptop and internet connection.

Many people who start out as affiliates also make an assumption about it being easy. They don’t look at it like an actual business, but rather a “get rich quick” scheme!

Business Models

There’s many ways to do affiliate marketing too. Not every affiliate approaches the business in the same way. Some build email lists, others build websites. Some use paid marketing and some work on free strategies such as blogging. This gives a huge variety of experience within the affiliate marketing industry. There’s also a huge variety of products you can promote as an affiliate marketer. Some products pay much more than others. If you jump in with no experience, you may start your business on the wrong assumptions.

Selling low value physical products means you earn tiny commissions. Choosing a free marketing strategy will take much longer and may even fail. Do both and you’re doubly in trouble!

Access Free Video Series here and learn about high ticket affiliate products.

Other products can pay a lot more in commissions. High ticket affiliate products are much more lucrative than standard products. Subscription and membership products pay affiliates recurring commissions, so they can earn more from the same amount of work. Just knowing this puts you ahead of many affiliates who are destined to fail as they pursue bad marketing strategies and give up when nothing happens. With higher valued products and through using multiple products in a range, added to subscription products this will give you a much better chance of success. It also means you can more easily use paid marketing strategies which are more effective, fast and scalable.

Can You Profit From Affiliate Marketing?

The real question here is can you profit from affiliate marketing! This is a difficult question to answer. But this quote from Henry Ford I think sums it up quite well:

henry ford quote

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right” – Henry Ford

Belief is key to building a successful and profitable business, whatever it is. My experience of affiliate marketing is that it’s been a tough ride. I wish I could start again with the knowledge I now have, because it would be much easier. But knowledge is hard won in affiliate marketing.

One of my mentors recently said on a call that of all the entrepreneurs he knows all testified that it was never easier than they thought, succeeding in entrepreneurship.

Another appropriate expression is that the master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried. Experienced and profitable affiliates have gone through many failures in their affiliate journey. If you’re not prepared to learn from your failures as an affiliate, it’s probably not the path for you! If you’re serious about learning affiliate marketing and staying the course, access a free video series here to get some useful tips.

Is affiliate marketing really profitable? It depends on you!

Easiest Affiliate Programs

Looking for the easiest affiliate programs? Sadly affiliate marketing and “ease” do not go hand in hand. Most affiliates will quit and many struggle to get going and start making sales. That being said there’s a few things you should consider which will most definitely make your affiliate journey more straight forward and simple. I spent years struggling as an affiliate marketer. Hopefully with the advice laid out in this post, you won’t have to.

Some of the main problems I had were not having a well structured plan or fully laid out marketing strategy. I expect many affiliates struggle with this too. If you’re promoting low value physical products, it’s super hard to get traction. That’s because you can’t earn enough money on a sale to run a paid marketing campaign.

Paid marketing is by far the superior method of marketing for affiliates. Without it, you’re stuck with free and cheap marketing methods which can take months or years. Don’t do that! The “easiest” affiliate programs will allow you to use paid marketing to promote your products. How do they do it? Read on.

Easiest Affiliate Programs – High Ticket

Selling an affiliate product can be tough, especially if you’ve never done it before. But imagine spending months on end with your promotion only to make a $40 commission. That’s what I did and although it was super exciting to make my first sale, $40 doesn’t go very far! With the same amount of effort your can earn $500 or even $2000! So why would you bust a gut doing it for $40? Simple, because most new affiliates don’t know that they can work a whole lot smarter if they use high ticket affiliate products.

easiest affiliate programs
Here’s a high ticket affiliate product which pays out a $24,000 commission! See the full video here.

Yes high ticket products sell for $5000 or even $20,000 and even with physical products you can still earn around 10% commissions on these kinds of sales. A $5000 sale would mean a $500 commission and a $20,000 sale would mean a $2000 commission.

Digital products typically pay out much larger commissions, so with the same price point you could make 40% commissions: $2000 on the $5000 product or $8000 on the $20,000 sale with a digital product which pays out 40% commission!

Because high ticket programs pay out much more than standard affiliate programs, it’s much easier to run paid advertising campaigns and come out with a profit. With low value products you’ll have your work cut out trying all the various low cost advertising methods which can take months or years such as blogging or video blogging etc.

Easiest Affiliate Programs – Subscription Products

This same principle applies to subscription products too. Most affiliate products only pay you once. This means you need to continually promote and them over and over to make a good income. In addition, most companies will take the customer you have referred, and potentially make a lifetime customer out of them, selling them more products and services without cutting you in!

With subscription affiliate programs you can continue to earn from these kinds of referrals. With memberships and software products, the customer pays an ongoing monthly fee in order to maintain their access. If you refer these customers, and if the referral scheme pays recurring commissions, you can be earning commissions for a lifetime from each sale!

easiest affiliate programs
OT (one time), S (subscription) and HT (high ticket) are three ways affiliates can earn. By combining all three, you have the best way to earn from an affiliate business. See the video series here.

This is pretty awesome when it starts happening. With the right products and services, and the right customers, each sale is an ongoing income, rather than just a one-off commission. Subscription products can give you more bang for your buck as an affiliate and will make your life a whole lot easier when the wheels start turning on your affiliate business!

Easiest Affiliate Programs – Step By Step Modules

Many affiliate programs offer sales materials and banners which you can use to promote products. But most of them don’t offer ongoing training and support which is what you need the most as a beginner. Without this vital training, stating an affiliate business can be a little like rowing up stream without a paddle.

What do you do with your banners and links if you have no clue how to promote an affiliate product in the first place? It’s useless to you! What you really need as a beginner affiliate is a step by step process to set up your sales funnel and learn marketing.

step by step affiliate program

Access step by step setup modules and training through the Mentors All In program.

Webinars & Freebies

The best affiliate programs for ease are those which also offer a number of marketing tools which you can leverage as an affiliate. Banners and affiliate links are the generic offerings of most affiliate programs and they only help you so much. But what makes your life much easier is a range of other tools such as free videos, webinars, landing pages and ready made email templates which you can use straight away in your affiliate business.

Much of the hard lifting in building an affiliate business is the initial set up of your website, sales funnel and email marketing templates. Having these already done for you is a massive step forwards. It means you can focus solely on learning marketing, and spend less time on initial set up of your affiliate banners, links, websites and marketing funnel.

  • A ready made sales funnel with products and email templates
  • A pre-populated affiliate website in just a few clicks

A Built In Sales Team – Closing Sales On Your Behalf

As mentioned before, most affiliate programs will take customers from you and benefit from the lifetime custom of those people! You lose by sending them to an affiliate program which doesn’t reward you for their loyalty!

If you want your life as an affiliate to be easier, it means working smarter not just harder. So by choosing a program which offers not only subscription products, which can pay for a lifetime, but also a product range tied in with your earlier sales, you can create more financial leverage with the same amount of work!

your first 10k online

A product range starts out with a simple low cost item. When a customer upgrades their purchase, you benefit from that up-sell and earn another commission, even if you don’t personally close the sale! Providing you have referred the customer initially, all further up-sells will generate commissions for you.

Use a product range if you want to make your life easier as an affiliate! See SFM Digital Business System for more on this.

Email Marketing

Email marketing deserves a mention in this article too. I struggled for years as an affiliate before I even got an email autoresponder! The power of email marketing is huge for affiliates. At first it will be slow but once you have built your email list up to over 1000 subscribers you should start to notice more sales coming in, if you’re doing everything else right.

free email marketing for affiliates
Access Aweber’s autoresponder free here.

An email list gives you control over your traffic. Whatever other marketing strategies you’re using, you should always build an email list. An email list allows you to build trust and communicate with potential customers through automated email messages over an extended period of time.

On a website, which used to be the only way I promoted affiliate products, you only get to show your content to people for a short time. After a few minutes your website visitors are gone forever! With an email list, this changes things because you can communicate with your subscribers over a longer period of time. You can also send them to your website, and affiliate products again and again.

Most customers need several “touch points” with a product or service before they make a buying decision. They won’t buy directly from a website on their first visit. An email marketing autoresponder gives you this leverage, and allows you to connect with your audience consistently over time.

Guaranteed SEO Results

Nearly every week I get an email from someone offering guaranteed SEO results. The problem is no one can legitimately offer you a “top” listing on Google, especially for competitive keywords. For your specific business name, or your actual name perhaps it’s possible, or even for your domain name. But in reality there’s so much competition online, most of these SEO “experts” are lying to you!

Emails start with “I like what you’re doing your site looks great, but….” and then go into how they can help me with their “expertise“! I’m not saying that all these companies are bogus, there are some actual legitimate companies doing this, but many of them over promise on something which is impossible to achieve.

Take this one which is the typical type of spammy email I get:

guaranteed seo results

Nowadays if I see some highlighted script (this script seems common), I simply ignore! A bit of flattery gets you everywhere and many of these email start out with flattery! “You have a great design and it looks great” is my particular favourite!

Guaranteed SEO Results

I’ve worked on SEO for some time and many people know it’s a vague and ambiguous area. You can get amazing results with SEO but there’s always a limit as to what can be done. Many individuals have tapped into the vagueness of the SEO strategist’s remit and used it to bamboozle unaware website owners. So beware! That being said, I do use an SEO company which I recommend. See banner below:

guaranteed seo results

One of my personal favourite strategies is to build SEO sites which rank on Google (and other search engines) for their main keywords. This website is such an example. Here’s one way to potentially rank your website for it’s target keywords.

Here’s my strategy.

Guaranteed SEO Results

Of course it should go without saying that any SEO strategy doesn’t guarantee results! SEO is an ongoing process and there’s many variables to consider such as relative competition, back links, content quality and volume of content.

More about this strategy is available in my other blog post “how to rank an affiliate website“. But here’s a quick overview.

  • Choose a keyword to build a site around – find one with low competitiveness but which also gets monthly traffic
  • Buy a domain name with your keyword in it
  • Build your content using your “seed” keyword and Google’s keyword planner to find long tail keyword derivatives

This is a strategy which I’ve had some success with but it really does depend on your keyword research and of course the quality of your content. If you pick a very competitive keyword, which has a tonne of competition, you’ll need to work considerably harder at building your site than with a low competition niche.

Long Tail Keywords In Blog Posts

The best way to rank your blog post on Google is to use a long tail keyword which offers very little competition on Google. Short tail keywords are much more difficult to rank for. If I was to try and rank my site for “affiliate marketing” for example, I would have to work on building thousands of back links and creating a huge authority site. I would have many sites to compete against such as Neil Patel’s site, for example. His site has been around for years and he’s managed to build thousands of incoming links to it for high authority sites. To compete with this kind of monster is very difficult, no matter how hard you work at it.

So it’s far better to find long tail keyword combination instead of going for the short term competitive keywords which are nearly impossible to compete with.

Finding low competition long tail keywords is a possible answer to this problem.

Use An SEO Plugin

One of the simplest ways you can improve your SEO rankings is with a plugin called Yoast SEO. See also best free blog plugins for WordPress. Yoast SEO helps you optimise your content by reminding you of all the elements which need attention. These are simple things like putting your keywords within your content:

  • Headings
  • Sub Headings
  • Content text
  • Image alt attributes
  • Etc.

With a plugin you can optimise all your on-site SEO quite easily. You can also enlist the help of softwares which help you optimise off-site SEO. SEM Rush is such a company and they can help you optimise your site for multiple SEO elements including on-site and off-site. Off site SEO includes elements like back links and social share links.

SEM Rush free trial

Summary

Guaranteed SEO results only materialise after quite a bit of on site and off site optimisation. SEO is a slow burner and unfortunately this can mean some companies will take advantage of people, knowing that they won’t see a dramatic change for several months. After which time they have already taken your money! So beware of these companies. Do some of your own SEO by getting a free SEO plugin. The companies I recommend are SEM Rush and The Hoth, both of which I’ve used.

7 Low Cost Online Business Ideas

I started looking for low cost online business ideas several years ago. My search eventually led me to learn affiliate marketing, which I still consider to be the best online business model available. See why affiliate marketing is the best business model. But before I found success as an affiliate, I also fell for the many pitfalls of the business model. See 23 affiliate mistakes newbie affiliates should avoid. But affiliate marketing is not necessarily the right business for you. So in this article I’m going to share the many low cost online business ideas I’ve found on-route!

Low Cost Online Business Ideas – eBay

eBay was a site I used to make money long before I found the affiliate marketing business model. It’s a great low cost business model in which you can use several different ideas. The main one I used was that of buying and selling on the site itself using a misspell search tool which showed the lesser found listings which were going for a bargain.

Then, I would re-sell the items with a better listing, (correct spelling), and better pictures. I always made a profit except once when I broke even. But this was because the item arrived in not so good condition, which wasn’t described in the listing. (I was being honest).

The full explanation of this strategy can be found in my article “how to start a profitable eBay business“.

There’s other ways to earn from eBay too of course:

Wholesale purchasing and selling individually. You can find wholesale prices on Alibaba.com and import the stock. Create a single listing on eBay and sell multiple items through your one listing.

You can buy and sell from other auction sites and make a profit on the difference. Buy also from charity shops and car boot sales, live auctions etc. and sell on eBay.

Low Cost Online Business Ideas – Blogging

niche blogging for profit

Yes blogging is a great way to make money from the internet. I’m a big fan of blogging and have been doing it for some time now. Depending on the niche you decide to build a blog in, this can take months or even years before you start to see regular traffic and of course profits. There’s a couple of main ways to monetise a blog if you have nothing to sell of your own:

  • Affiliate products – use affiliate products which you can find without any investment whatsoever. Link to those products on your blog and earn from their sales.
  • Advertising – Google Adsense is one of the most popular advertising platforms which content creators can earn from by placing targeted adverts on their content.

Low Cost Online Business Ideas – YouTube

YouTube is another platform used by online businesses to build followers and traffic. It can be used in conjunction with your own website to gain traffic or even on its own. YouTuber’s typically use affiliate marketing to monetise their channels but there’s also a YouTube program which can be joined after you gain a certain number of followers. See the YouTube partner program for details of monetisation.

YouTube is a good platform to use if you’re a fan of creating videos and uploading them regularly to the platform. Much like with blogging, over time you can build quite a following and this means traffic. When you have many people looking at your videos you can start to earn from your hard work. YouTube can also be used as a paid marketing platform, but you’ll need a high ticket product range if you choose this route. Learn about high ticket affiliate marketing here.

Low Cost Online Business Ideas – eBooks

I first thought of selling my own ebooks shortly after finding an ebook about the eBay strategy mentioned above. To me, the automated downloadable product seemed the best way to automate sales online and generate a passive income. So I wrote a couple of ebooks and tried to sell them on my websites. This was a struggle at the time, but now there is Amazon self publishing which has made the process much easier.

With self publishing you can write an ebook and upload it directly to Amazon’s self publishing section, selling it directly on their site. Here’s the link to Amazon’s self publishing section.

Email Marketing – Low Cost Online Business Ideas

Email marketing is probably one of the best low cost online business tools you can get if you want to make money over the internet. Anyone can get an email autoresponder and learn how to build their email list to multiple subscribers. See free autoresponder for affiliate marketing.

Most affiliate marketers build an email list of subscribers and automate messages which connect customers to products online. It’s a good way to build an online business without products of your own. See also the power of email marketing. Top affiliates grow email lists into the tens of thousands of subscribers. A single email sent out to such a list can mean you can sell multiple products through a single email message.

Freelancing – Using Online Skills You Can Sell

Freelancers are effectively self employed business people who offer certain skills or services. If you have a skill set which can be leveraged online, you can more than certainly make an income by selling your services on a site such as Upwork.com or Fiverr.com.

becoming a freelancer

Freelancers offers services such as website design, logo design, SEO services (Search engine optimisation), link building, digital imagery, copywriting, personal assistance and so on.

Although freelancing is pretty competitive, you can build up your reviews over time and showcase your work online to a number of online business people who use these services.

Using Google My Business – For A Physical Service

Google My Business offers a means of advertising which is completely free. All you need is a service you can provide and a physical address to prove you are where you say!

I used this service to offer a handyman service in my local neighbourhood for several months and got work quite easily. So if you have a skill such as tutoring, music tuition, handyman, painter and decorator, computer skills or language tuition, you can use Google My Business to set up a completely free listing in your neighbourhood and get free customers! It takes about half an hour to set up and you’ll need to verify your address when they send out your code.

Affiliate Marketing Secrets

What are the affiliate marketing secrets which separate the successful affiliates from those who struggle? Since becoming an affiliate marketer in the early 2000’s, I’ve learned a lot. In the early days it was particularly tough. I jumped from course to course looking for the “magic bullet” which would bring me instant riches.

affiliate marketing secrets

Over several years I realised this tactic was flawed! I had some success with a few of the websites I had built. But nothing seemed to last. Why was I failing? What was I doing wrong? One of the reasons I was failing was that “failing” is the natural process to learning affiliate marketing! Unless you fail, you have no feedback with which to learn from. You can’t just hit a home run on your first swing!

Over several years I tried various things and failed over and over again. Eventually I started making sales, and things started working.

Affiliate Marketing Secrets – Fail Forwards

Failing forwards” was a term I heard several years into my study of affiliate marketing. Unless you try stuff, which you can fail at, you can’t move forwards. It’s uncomfortable to fail over and over again, but necessary. In the words of Thomas Edison when challenged about his “failing” to make the incandescent light bulb work, he said “I have not failed, I’ve simply found 10,000 ways that won’t work”.

affiliate marketing secrets

For example, most advertising campaigns won’t work. You’ll need to create many campaigns and try different things to find the one which does. At first you may be dismayed that your very first advert doesn’t work. But you need to take the attitude that this “feedback”, not failure will launch you towards success eventually, simply by being determined and not giving up.

Affiliate Marketing Secrets – Be A Creator, Not A Consumer

We are consumers on the whole and whether we are reading a book, eating a chocolate bar, watching television or studying an online course, we are absorbing material which someone else has created. Affiliates get paid by creating a value, of some kind, which can be absorbed by others.

Most people are stuck in consumer “mode” in which they can only consume more and more information, products, food, entertainment etc. To change the script you need to shift your focus from being a consumer to being a producer of value, and put that value between your affiliate products and your potential customers.

Whether you decide to do that through blogging, creating videos or using email marketing, or paid advertising is up to you. But notice how much of your time is consumed absorbing someone else’s material, and notice how much time you spend producing material. Be a producer not a consumer! When you’re learning affiliate marketing your time will naturally be spent absorbing information in learning mode. You’ll spend 90% of your time consuming information. Once you have a plan, and a path to follow, switch this so that you spend 80-90% of your time producing, rather than absorbing information.

Affiliate Marketing Secrets – Use A List

Most successful affiliates have an email list of subscribers where they can automate the delivery of messages to a growing base of potential customers. An email list gives you control over your traffic flow. On a website, someone only has a small window of opportunity to make a purchasing decision. But once they are on your email list, this period of time is massively extended. People have bought affiliate products from my list even years after joining it!

affiliate marketing secrets

So if you’re serious about becoming successful as an affiliate, get an email autoresponder. See free autoresponder for affiliate marketing, and the power of email marketing.

Types Of Product – Digital, Physical, High Ticket & Subscription

As a beginner affiliate I promoted products which I had bought myself; things such as books from Amazon and low value physical products from eBay. The trouble was, and what I didn’t know at the time was, they don’t pay very well! In fact Amazon and eBay have some of the lowest commissions in the affiliate marketing industry. See Amazon affiliate marketing commission.

When you’re making sales sporadically, which happens when you’re starting out, you want those commissions to count. When you use low value items which offer tiny commissions, they won’t make a dent in your bank account! Books from Amazon, for example pay only 6% in commission. So a $10 book would only make you a commission of $0.60cents! Hardly a living!

In contrast, digital products pay a whole lot more; generally upwards of 30%. By choosing carefully which products you promote, you can work a whole lot smarter. The same work can net you a much larger income if you choose wisely. Recurring income affiliate programs can pay you ongoing commissions from products you’ve sold previously. Then there’s high ticket affiliate products too. What is a high ticket affiliate marketing? A high ticket product is one which sells for a much larger value than most products. Get Help

Successful affiliate marketers seldom did it alone. As with many successful endeavours, those who are able to get help can achieve a lot more and push past the barriers met by those who go it alone. With affiliate marketing this is definitely the case.

If you’ve been going it alone with your online business it’s well worth getting a mentor. The worlds most successful people have mentors and coaches who help them with their thinking and mindset issues which would otherwise hold them back in life.

affiliate marketing secrets

After finding a community of online entrepreneurs in 2014, I was able to shift my thinking. I switched from trying to get, to trying to give. I changed from selling low value products to high value and subscription products. I kept going and followed several coaches and mentors who had already achieved what I wanted to achieve.

You can access the same community here, or checkout the free video series to learn more.

Use A Product Range

Most affiliates join a program, grab a link and paste it everywhere they can. They earn tiny commissions and they don’t get enough traffic! (More on traffic later in this article).

Once you pass a product onto a customer, that customer becomes loyal to the product owner, or vendor, not you! To make money as an affiliate like this you need a continued stream of new customers.

With a product range, you benefit from the lifetime of a customer. You only refer the customer to the initial “entry level” product within a range of higher valued items they can purchase later.

build an online business from scratch

A built in sales team close sales on your behalf and provided you referred the customer initially, you still earn the commission for the sale, even with high ticket items. A good product range gives you multiple earning methods:

  • One off products – which you earn single commissions from
  • Subscription products – earning you regular recurring commissions
  • High ticket products – giving you much larger than average commissions when higher value products are purchased by your referrals

Marketing Strategies – Paid or Unpaid?

There’s many marketing strategies you can use for affiliate products. See also 22 ways to promote affiliate products. Some strategies will take longer than others, some are expensive and some are cheap. However, the best marketing strategies are those which can be turned on quickly and scaled up to a global audience.

niche blogging for profit

With slower marketing strategies, such as blogging and other organic cheap strategies, you can be at it for some time before you see anything for your hard work. These strategies aren’t as scalable as by using paid marketing. The main trouble with paid marketing is that it costs money and it’s expensive. To learn paid marketing also takes some budget, and you should expect to spend some money while learning.

Some business models aren’t suitable for use with paid marketing however. See affiliate marketing business models. Low value products are much harder to combine with paid marketing strategies simply because it’s far more difficult to make a profit from them. But with a product range, and a series of high ticket affiliate products to sell, you’re in a much better position to do so.

Whether you use paid or unpaid marketing strategies will depend on your affiliate marketing business model and the time you have available to work on your online business. See also unpaid social media marketing. Ideally find a strategy which suits you and stick to it. But if you’re using cheaper or free strategies, expect a longer journey.

Summary

Affiliate marketing secrets? This is the list I wish I could tell myself about when I started learning about affiliate marketing several years ago. I hope they have been useful. Affiliate marketing is a performance related business model, so the longer you are in the game, the better your results should get. These tips however should give you a head start if you take them seriously.

As with anything, if you “tinker” around with affiliate marketing and treat it as a hobby, you’ll potentially earn a hobby wage from it. But treat it more seriously and you can achieve some amazing results. People have built businesses online which have far surpassed any income they made from their previous employment. But it takes a huge amount of commitment and you need a strong desire to make affiliate marketing work for you.

High Ticket Digital Marketing

What is high ticket digital marketing? Digital marketing is advertising digitally, or over the internet. “High ticket” refers to the price of a product which is sold online. A high ticket product is typically valued much higher than a standard product. A typical product might sell for less than $100 online. Whereas a high ticket product typically sells for over $500.

A high ticket sales funnel is often used to sell high ticket products online. With a sales funnel, a number of products are available. An “entry level” product will typically be valued at a low rate. As you are offered other products in a range, later products are of increasing value.

In the example of an online business program an entry level product might be $100. It will offer training and products for customers, perhaps to help them build an online business. The next level of digital product might offer more training and personal coaching and therefore be valued at a higher price; $2000, for example. As you move through a digital product range, you are offered more products which deliver more value.

Here’s a high ticket sales funnel which sells multiple digital products.

High Ticket Digital Marketing – The Sales Funnel

To get people to enter the sales funnel, and find the products which are being sold, marketers send qualified leads to a landing page. The landing page is designed to collect the visitors email address. Subscribers enter their email details to access some information. This is usually in the form of a free guide or series of training videos. In this case it could be information about starting an online business, for example. (Click below for access)

In order for a digital marketer to find people for their sales funnel, they need to identify what kind of people are best suited to their product range. This involves learning about targeting the right customers for any marketing you might be doing. See how to know your target market. Once their target customer “avatar” is understood, a marketer will target adverts at that specific audience in order to send them directly to their landing page, and collect their email details.

Once someone enters their email details, they automatically receive email messages relating to the information they requested.

High Ticket Digital Marketing – The Email Autoresponder

An email autoresponder automatically collects email addresses from a landing page (or website) and sends out email messages. See free autoresponder for affiliate marketing to get access to one for free.

Emails can be queued up so that subscribers to an email list automatically receive emails. This is email marketing, which is used with great effect by digital marketers. See also the power of email marketing.

email marketing

With an email list, a digital marketer can deliver value driven messages and video content over a number of weeks, months or even years. This is a great tool and much better than a simple website for attracting customers to a business. Over time, a marketer can build trust if they deliver value in their messages and if their advertising targeting brings the right kind of people to their list. on a website, someone only has a small window of opportunity in order to make a purchase. But once on an email list, this is extended to a much longer time period.

TripWire Sales Funnel

As people enter the email marketing funnel, they receive messages which offer products. Usually a low value product is offered first. Once someone purchases the low value product, they are automatically offered a higher value product from those in a product range. This can also be called a tripwire sales funnel because the later level product is only offered for those who purchase the basic level product.

Those who don’t purchase anything remain on the initial email list until they do. Those who make a purchase are offered another higher valued product. They are also often moved onto another email marketing list, which offers messages which are more appropriate to their position in the sales funnel.

high ticket digital marketing

Using such a system means a digital marketer can tailor make messages appropriate for anyone according to the products they have purchased. The whole process can be automated and scaled up. Once a sales funnel like this is profitable, the marketer increases advertising budget to send more people down the sales funnel.

Advertising Platforms

High ticket digital marketers often use paid marketing platforms such as Google Adwords, Facebook and YouTube, for example. With a paid marketing platform, a marketer can test their sales funnel before committing a huge amount of marketing dollars.

high ticket digital marketing
Here’s a video advert I used to send targeted YouTube users into my sales funnel.

With small value products, this is more difficult because small value items don’t pay very much in terms of commissions. A smaller priced offering would means the marketer would need to use cheaper marketing solutions or be very good at making sales with a tiny marketing budget, which is much more difficult.

A YouTube advert can be set up through Google Adwords account and a little amount can be spent targeting the audience which will be more likely to convert into customers. After spending $30 or so, the marketer should know if any problems arise in their sales funnel, and whether they will make any commissions.

Summary

High ticket digital marketers use paid platforms such as YouTube and Facebook to send targeted traffic towards a landing page or website. From there they collect subscribers information and deliver email messages which offer products and services. As email subscribers purchase products within the sales funnel, they get automatically offered higher value products.

A high ticket sales funnel starts with a low value offering and has a number of products to offer customers. The more expensive products are offered later on, after an initial purchase is made.

Products ranges such as the SFM Digital Business System offer an in-built sales team who close sales on marketers behalf. Anyone can become an affiliate for high ticket business systems and get paid to refer people into such a funnel. You are effectively a third party referrer, sending people to an existing business model. You get paid for the referrals but don’t have to deal with customers personally.

Newbie Affiliate Marketing

In this article I’m going to share some newbie affiliate marketing tips! I wish I would have known when I started out. As a newbie affiliate marketer, when I started learning affiliate marketing in early 2000’s, I made a lot of mistakes. Hopefully this article will help you avoid making those same mistakes and you can make larger leaps forward in your affiliate business much more quickly than I did!

beginners

For a “newbie”, affiliate marketing is an exciting way to make money online. You’ve probably already signed up for a bunch of stuff and your email inbox is crammed full! But beware of information overload and shiny object syndrome!

Conflicting ideas and too much information at once can put a stop to your enthusiasm when it all gets too much. Once you’re in this state, you’ll jump from course to course, absorbing all the information you can get hold of. Just learning feels like accomplishment, but of course you also need to implement those ideas for them to generate any cash!

In learning mode, 90+% of your time will be spent in absorbing and watching information. Once you understand what you need to do, it should be 20%!

Newbie Affiliate Marketing – Shiny Object Syndrome

Shiny object syndrome reminds me of a quote from Douglas Coglan (Bryan Brown). If you’re not a movie buff Douglas Coglan was a character in the movie Cocktail who said “anything else is always something better”. With affiliate marketing, if you’re not making progress, it’s easy to blame the course or “system” you’re using.

newbie affiliate marketing

When another course pops into your inbox, you jump on the next shiny object, and this takes all your time. You replace your existing strategy with a new one and the whole process starts again.

Only you’ve just lost another 2-3 months in learning mode again, absorbing new information and watching videos. I fell for shiny object syndrome too and bought several courses, jumping from one to another looking for the “easy and fast” route, (not the arduous and lengthy route)! Here’s some of the courses I took.

There’s nothing wrong with trying new things and seeing what works for you. But just realise that you could get stuck in this mindset and achieve nothing. Better to spend some dedicated time implementing what you have learned than jump ship too early and learn nothing. The shiny object is always something which over promises and under delivers! Ultimately it’s you who will be responsible for the outcomes of your efforts with your online business.

Newbie Affiliate Marketing – Being A Busy Fool

A “busy fool” fills their time with lots of activities which makes them “feel” busy, while accomplishing nothing. When I was a newbie to affiliate marketing I can definitely say I fell for this trap too. I spend huge amounts of time on the wrong actions. I built many websites, which can now be done with press button software. I spent far too much time making things look good, such as designing my websites, which got no traffic!

If you’re new to affiliate marketing you need to get good at managing your time and your activities. Focus on money producing activities. Those aren’t always those actions which you want to do, but they are those which make money and often they are those activities which are outside your comfort zone.

Spending time on social media, chatting with friends, or anything which doesn’t drive your affiliate business forwards should be considered distractions. Eliminate them quickly and focus on money producing activities. Otherwise months can pass by without having made progress.

Subscription Products & Digital Products

As a new affiliate, I spent a huge amount of time promoting low value products which only made me tiny commissions when they sold. Don’t make this mistake! In terms of products, I’d say I made a huge mistake by choosing products I would buy myself, but that didn’t earn much in the way of commissions.

Books from Amazon, for example, will pay you only 6% commission. So if you sold a book for $20 you would only make $1.20 in commission. Hardly a fortune. You would need to sell thousands of these kinds of products to make even a modest income online from your marketing efforts. (See also Amazon affiliate marketing commission).

amazon commission rates
From Amazon’s affiliate program commission structure at time of writing. Source: https://affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk/help/node/topic/GRXPHT8U84RAYDXZ

Subscription affiliate programs, on the other hand are much more lucrative. With a subscription product you can make recurring commissions, potentially for a lifetime with the right products. Even a small recurring commission is far better than a one off commission, especially if the customer maintains their subscription over several years!

Digital products too pay much more in terms of commissions than physical products. Once I stopped selling low value physical products, and switched to selling recurring income digital products, things changed massively for me.

Newbie Affiliate Marketing – High Ticket Products

High ticket products too were a game changer for me. Once I discovered high ticket products, I was able to make far larger commissions for individual sales. Before this I was struggling making a pittance from low value items.

A high ticket product is a product with a much larger value than the standard product you might find online. With high ticket products you are able to make upwards of $500 per sale. This also means you are able to use paid marketing and recoup advertising costs more effectively than with lower valued goods and services.

Paid marketing gives you more speed with an online business, and the ability to scale up once profitable. With low value products, you are stuck with cheap of free marketing strategies which can take ages to get going with, and require a huge amount of patience and dedication.

Marketing Strategies

There’s various marketing strategies affiliate marketers use. If there’s one piece of advice I could give my younger self it would be to use an autoresponder and build an email list of subscribers. See free autoresponder for affiliate marketing. Before I got an autoresponder, I was trying to get people to affiliate products just from a website. However, there’s a huge problem with this. Most people don’t buy from people (or websites) they don’t know! On a website, a visitor only has a small window of opportunity to make a purchase. After that they are gone forever.

But once you can get someone to opt into your email list, you can continue sending them information and building trust. Over the longer term, more people will purchase from you if you have given them value, and a reason to trust them. This can be done through email marketing much more effectively than it can be done from a website alone. See also the power of email marketing.

Affiliate marketing is a tough business. It’s a performance based business model and there’s a tonne of competition. Even with a a steely composition and die hard mentality, even the toughest affiliate can succumb to periods of disillusionment and despair!

It’s those who get past this and carry on who succeed and this is much easier when you have support and a network of other people who are on the same journey. Most people have the opposite: (mostly) well meaning friends and relatives who try and talk them out of building their own business!

Summary

As a newbie affiliate marketer it’s easy to rush in and get started with whatever program you happen to find first! I did this too! But as you can see there are many pitfalls with affiliate marketing. You can get distracted by new “shiny” courses (shiny object syndrome).

You can become overloaded with information and lose your way. Being a busy fool and wasting time is an easy trap too. So you need to build some habits around working on your online business and get consistent with them. This isn’t easy, especially if you’re working alone. Get the help and support of an online community here.

newbie affiliate marketing

Becoming profitable as an affiliate isn’t easy and it does take some dedication and perseverance. But it’s definitely worth the journey if you’re up for it! Affiliate marketing can completely change your life and give you complete autonomy from a job or a boss. It can give you a passive income and allow you to live wherever you choose! Are you up for it?

High Ticket Business Model

What is a high ticket business model? A high ticket business model is one which uses high ticket items. These are higher than average cost items. For affiliate marketing, a high ticket item will pay much more than the average affiliate product.

A standard affiliate product might cost $100, whereas a high ticket product will sell for $1000 or above. High ticket affiliate products are good for affiliates because they offer a greater return. A high ticket affiliate product could be a physical product, such as this submarine:

high ticket business model
high ticket submarine – see video workshops here.

But also high ticket products are things like training and mentorship courses for business owners and those venturing into entrepreneurialism. These are the most expensive products you’ll likely find to promote as an affiliate. They also offer the highest levels of commission.

High Ticket Business Model – Why Use One?

With affiliate marketing, affiliates promote and sell other people’s products online for a share of the profit. But most products only pay tiny commissions. Amazon, for example has some of the lowest levels of commissions for affiliates. See Amazon affiliate marketing commission. Amazon pays affiliates between 1% and 11% on products they successfully sell for the company.

Other products can pay as much as 100% commissions if they are attached to a product range. These tend to be digital product courses. Sales of higher level training courses and mentorship programs can allow companies to offer huge commissions on entry level products within a product range.

high ticket funnel

This is great for affiliates, especially new affiliates because it means they can make much larger commissions on the front end of their sales funnel. This means they can break even on their advertising early, or even make a profit, and make more profit later when a higher value product is sold to a previous referral.

High Ticket Business Model

A high ticket business model contains multiple products with which affiliates can benefit. For example, the SFM Digital Business system contains multiple products to help people build an income online from scratch. The first product in the range of a high ticket business model is priced as an “entry level” product which is affordable for more people. An entry level product might give you a sales funnel and training and coaching. As you go further into the high ticket sales funnel, you see products which offer higher value, e.g.

Highest level coaching and mentoring products offer the most value to those seeking to build an income from the internet.

Why Use A High Ticket Business Model?

If you’re planning on starting an online business, high ticket business models offer the best opportunity for fast business growth and scalability. With a low value product to promote, your opportunity for using paid marketing strategies, and still turning a profit are vastly reduced. Low value physical products pay the least in commissions to affiliate marketers. To promote these kinds of products is more difficult because it requires cheaper strategies which take more time and effort.

high ticket business model

With a high ticket business model however, you can sell high value mentorship programs for $10,000 and above and make 30% commission on these kinds of sales. You can also use recurring income affiliate programs and high ticket products to help generate revenue. This means that scalable marketing strategies are much more within your reach, since you’ll more easily recoup advertising budget and make a profit on your sales.

Cheaper non scalable marketing strategies require months of hard work and of course you can’t scale your business as quickly using these methods. With paid marketing, you can increase your budget and reach more people – like turning a tap!

Summary

A high ticket business model can offer multiple high value products and services within a sales funnel. The best model for affiliates are those which offer the highest value and most desirable products but also pay the highest levels of commission.

These are high value digital business training and mentorship courses. Digital products pay far more than physical product to affiliate marketers, and although there are also high value physical products, the commission structure tends to be lower with a physical product.

With a product range, like the SFM Digital Business system, you have the added benefit of multiple products within a series of related products. Refer the “entry level” product and you can even benefit from a built in sales team, who close high ticket sales on your behalf.

Affiliate Marketing Strategies For Beginners

What are the best affiliate marketing strategies for beginners? There’s many affiliate marketing strategies you can use, but it’s important not to spread yourself too thin as an affiliate. Jumping from one strategy to another or from one course to another might mean you spilt your resources and have less impact in any of them. As a result you might find none of the strategies working for you. So it’s a good idea to find a course/mentor you like and stick to it/them. Find also a strategy you like and stick to it. Get good at it and use your own feedback to help you learn from experience.

Affiliate marketing is a great business when it works, but not so great when it doesn’t! As a beginner, you’ll likely experience some setbacks. But being forewarned is being forearmed. Although there’s many strategies you can use (see 22 ways to promote affiliate products), it’s wise to choose one and stick at it for long enough to gain some small success. Once you have achieved this, you can use the feedback to focus on the specific actions you have already done which brought about your success. Celebrate small wins because they lead to larger wins and help you maintain your enthusiasm for the longer term.

Affiliate Marketing Strategies For Beginners – List Building

I’m going to mention list building as my number 1 strategy here because it was a complete game changer for me. At first, I expected affiliate success to come from a website, and for a long time I was largely disappointed. Sales can and do come from websites.

But a list is so much better. On a website, a visitor will hang around for less than a few minutes, in most cases. This means they only have a few minutes to make a buying decision on your affiliate website. Most will leave without purchasing anything and never return!

free autoresponder for affiliate marketing

But if you can offer them something on your website, and get them to subscribe to your email list, this time period can be dramatically extended. With an email list, you can continue communicating with your subscribers over a much long time period than you can on a website. I’ve had subscribers purchase things even years after joining my email list. This just isn’t possible from a website.

An email list lets you build trust with your subscribers by offering information which they are interested in. Access a free email marketing service here. See also the power of email marketing.

Affiliate Marketing Strategies For Beginners – A Website

To get people on your email list you can use a number of strategies. One of these, and the cheapest strategy, is to have a website. A website is a great place to start for an affiliate because it gives you an online presence. You can use a website to share content, promote your affiliate products and even give away products of your own to help build your email list.

A website on its own doesn’t automatically guarantee you sales of your affiliate products of course. This is something which is easy to believe as a beginner. I imagined the money flowing in as soon as I published my website online. The truth is a little more different. Imagine a petrol station in the middle of a dessert and you’ll be getting close to what a website does without any promotion.

affiliate marketing strategies for beginners

There’s millions of websites online and to get people to find your website takes time and or money. You can pay for advertising your website, or you can create content which helps people find it. Or, do a combination of the two. Watch the above video to see how you can set up your website with this software in a few clicks:

Affiliate Marketing Strategies For Beginners – Blogging

Yes blogging is a super cheap strategy which is great for beginners to get them started doing something productive online for their affiliate business. Blogging is a long term free strategy which can be used to attract visitors to your website through the creation of articles which you can share.

niche blogging for profit

By creating content which is targeted to likely customers, bloggers can attract free traffic to their website. Once on your site, people can view your affiliate products or sign up to your email list. There’s many blogging tactics but one I’ve used extensively is to find long tail keywords with low SEO difficulty. SEO = search engine optimisation. It’s what the search engines such as Google, Duckduckgo.com Bing.com etc. use to determine what content to show for different internet searches.

By researching keywords within your blogging topic, you can choose those which are most likely to rank on the search engines. If you’re successful, you can attract free traffic to your website, which can be monetised with your affiliate products. See also niche blogging for profit and best micro niche for blogging.

Paid Marketing

There’s various paid marketing strategies which beginner affiliates can use. Depending on your particular affiliate marketing business model this may or may not be appropriate to use. If you’re using low cost physical affiliate products, which pay lower commissions, this may not be the best option for you. But if you invest in a high ticket sales funnel, it’s much more realistic to make a profit when running paid ads.

Google Adwords - paid marketing platform

High Ticket

What is high ticket affiliate marketing? A high ticket product is simply a product with a higher price tag. If you promote high value products, your return on investment will be much higher than if you only use low value products. With paid marketing, your profit margin is the difference between advertising budget and the commissions you make. So high value products are better when approaching affiliate marketing with paid marketing. Some of the best paid marketing platforms affiliates use are:

  • YouTube – Using a video campaign
  • Facebook – Video or text advertising
  • Google Adwords – Uses search and display text based adverts
  • Bing/Microsoft & Yahoo – Similar to Google Adwords
  • Various other social media platforms also offer paid marketing (Twitter, Linkedin, etc.

Paid marketing is a fast and effective way for affiliates to market their products and services online. It’s best to be combined with email marketing because this gives you more scope for building trust with your customers over longer time periods. But this does depend on the kinds of products you are selling and who you target with your marketing. See how to know your target market.

Social Media Platforms – Free Strategies

Affiliates also use various social media platforms to attract their target audience and promote their affiliate products. See also unpaid social media marketing. for some strategies.

Although you can use social media platforms to run paid advertising, you can also build an audience with them for free if you’re prepared to make habits out of your activities. Facebook users, for example, will find groups which have their target audience in them. They join the groups and interact with members, encouraging them to view their Facebook profile.

access free webinar

Link to your website in your social media profile and use this strategy to generate hits on your website and get people on to your email list. Over time, and with considerable effort, this can be a good tactic to generate website traffic. You can also direct mail other social media users and let them know about your products.

Sniply – Sharing A Call To Action

Snip.ly is a software platform used by affiliate marketers to share content and add a call to action for every piece of content they share. There’s a few ways you can use this software but here’s a strategy I’ve used to great effect.

Grab a trending article, or piece of content which has already gone viral. Ideally it should be in your particular niche within your affiliate “zone”. You need to target content which will attract your target market. So choose content which your ideal customers would be interested in.

affiliate marketing strategies for beginners
Using Snip.ly to create customised call to actions which lead people to your content, or affiliate products.

To find trending viral content, use a site called Buzzsumo.com. Type your main keyword into the tool and find trending articles which are being shared on social media sites around the world. Grab the article and add your own unique call to action (CTA) using the Snip.ly tool. Paste the new link on your social media sites. As people share your article, and click on your CTA, you’ll get more visitors to your website, or affiliate landing page.

This is another strategy which requires consistently in order to generate traction. But if you make a habit out of it, it can give you some great results.

Quora.com

Quora.com is a question and answer website which is a great resource for beginner affiliates to generate traction with their content. I use Quora.com to connect people to my website content. Here’s how the strategy works.

affiliate marketing strategies for beginners

Find questions which relate to your affiliate products, create content on your website which answer these questions. Then, answer the questions on Quora.com and link through to your articles are part of your answer. Quora.com won’t accept spam or tiny answers with only links to your content in. You need to actually provide value in your answers too, or they are likely to remove your content.

So provide some real value in your answers. If you do you should be allowed to link to relevant content. This is a great tactic and has worked for me. But again it’s one which requires consistency to see any benefit from it.

Affiliate Marketing Strategies For Beginners Summary

The fastest way to build a profitable affiliate business is through using a high ticket product range and running paid advertising. But even then, there’s a lot of work involved and you’ll need to risk capital. Other cheaper marketing strategies will tend to take a lot longer.

Some of the strategies I’ve shared in this article will need consistency and to be done over a long period of time. If you’re not patient enough, it won’t seem worth it! In James Clear’s book Atomic Habits he shares the picture below showing the “Plateau of latent potential”.

This I think sums up affiliate marketing quite well. We expect our results to be linear when we start out as an affiliate. But in reality, it takes a lot more than most people expect. That’s why the affiliate marketing failure rate is so high. To be in the 5% of affiliates who succeed, you only need to understand this concept. Keep going when everyone else drops out!
